Mark Webber has secured a solid win at Silverstone after taking the lead in the first corner of the race. Lewis Hamilton came in second, ahead of Nico Rosberg. Sebastian Vettel fell down to 7th due to a puncture, while the Ferraris were hit by extremely bad luck once more.

New track layout seems to have helped overtaking, so thumbs up.
Both McLarens getting the points without actually doing much on track.
Vettel being praised like a god for just climbing back in the points..
yeah that was lame, before the SC was deployed he was nowhere and tooling around in 1.37's while Webber and Hamilton where reeling off 1.35's - talking about throwing your toys out of the pram!

Hamilton had a racing accident with Vettel. That was black luck for Seb. He did a super recovery from being back almost 90 s. Congrats to Webber for winning the race and the pissing contest with his team principal.
Alonso had a torrid race and Ferrari are looking really in the pits now for the championship.
I don't see how you disagree with me. Racing accident = karma (well can be, I don't really believe in karma or anything else supernatural exists). Vettel's recovery was aided by the SC a bit, no? Webber and co really need to calm down.

How about you stop being a jerk and answer a simple question?
We don't all watch BBC.
And try not to screw up the quotes like you did.
We have the FOM feed in Aus with the Beeb boys commentating and I can confirm that according them Alonso was told to give the position back just as Bob's diff failed.

When? How many laps after the incident? Who told Alonso?
After the Raikkonnen / Hamilton controversy in Spa clear guidance was issued where by if the overtaking driver goes off track for any reason, even if he had nowhere else to go as was Hamilton's case, then he has to give the place back and wait one further corner before trying to overtake again. Don't forget that Hamilton even gave the place back but was given a drive through penalty because he was judged to have not sufficiently given the place back. I remember all the Ferrari fans defending that decision, but now I guess they don't think that Alonso's 'overtake' should be judged in the same light.
Alonso only got half the job done, ran off track, and should have conceded the corner there and then. Yet again it was harsh on Alonso that his penalty ended up being a drive through whilst the safety car was out, but it was luck of the draw. Had he given the place back immediately or if he had pitted as soon as he was given the penalty, then he wouldn't have lost out as badly as he ended up doing.
Ok so we all know that RB gave Seb Marks wing. Its worth noting that Marks setup was also used by Seb for this race. I have no doubt that this has added to Marks frustration. Responding with a commanding victory like that is pretty impressive.
Also.. enough with the praise for Vettel and his comeback through the field. He would have been nowhere without the Safety Car. My Grandmother could pass inferior midfield cars if she had a RB6.

same applies to alonso in monacco.
cannot compare overtaking in Monaco with Silverstone! But, yes, if you are 4-5sec faster it is much easier

It was like shooting fish in a barrel for the most part ...
"Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine ..."
Vettel did a good job, he learned how to time overtakes. Though the redbull was on rails, anyone saw it reeling in the FI is copse and beckets, flatout?
The redbull is a space ship!
About Alonso, i dont feel sorry for that guy. He damned the stewards last 2 weeks about rules, and now he broke one blatantly and was fully aware of it.
He thinks he has the right to move up the field, then onto the podium, no matter what.
I felt sorry initially, but looking back, why didn't he give back position right away?
Was he to obsessed with getting back up to Hamilton?
Had he gave back position according to the regulations, He would have been ahead becuase of Bob's problem.
The stewards had to give him a penalty, it didn't look pretty in the circumstances, but Alonso forced them. If he got off with a move like that, while hamilton got penalised for giving back the space, it would be a double standard.
At least Alonso will learn to obey the rules now. He's not special.
Why wasn't Alonso allowed to serve his drive through during the SC phase? Other people were pitting exactly at the time... I though it was "penalty given, penalty served". Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes unlucky. He would have lost 4 or 5 places, not 10.
Was he not allowed to serve the drive through under SC out of safety concerns?
Charlie whiting must really hate him.
From a fanboy point of view the race was over at turn one after Vettel's puncture. His comments after the race were quite telling and confirmed what I had seen on the on board footage from the car behind him.
From an F1 fan point of view, man did it drag on. I was ready to switch off after lap 20 as it felt more like lap 40!
