Mark Webber has secured a solid win at Silverstone after taking the lead in the first corner of the race. Lewis Hamilton came in second, ahead of Nico Rosberg. Sebastian Vettel fell down to 7th due to a puncture, while the Ferraris were hit by extremely bad luck once more.

I wonder if you actually saw this from above or a near camera angle. All I could see was that Sutil left his inside uncovered and Vettel used the opportunity to go alongside. Sutil actually was the one who started to squeeze while Vettel was already alongside him. Perhaps the helicopter wasn't near enough to see every detail but that was what I saw. Is there more video or picture evidence?
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best ..............................organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

Why the veiled attempt to suggest that Hamilton did something wrong? Hamilton got the jump on Vettel (and to some degree Webber) partly because of Vettel's attempted chop on Webber. Hamilton was having to brake to avoid driving in to the back of Webber because Webber was slower than he should have been at that point. Vettel tried to close Webber on the apex of Copse which meant he ended up squeezing Hamilton. Neither Webber nor Hamilton had anywhere to go so Vettel's puncture was not Hamilton's fault. I don't blame Vettel either really although it was his actions that led to it. It was a typical first corner incident and some in here wouldn't mention it were it not for Hamilton being involved. Hamilton would not have sat there thinking "I'll try to puncture Vettel's tyre" because the greater risk was that Hamilton would have lost his front wing. I'm amazed he didn't lose some of it to be honest.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
I dont think Hamilton punctured Vettel's tyre. Vettel doesn't know who did either.
I think it happened after he cam back on.
Vettel was ok, but if he controled his emotions and didnt kick out at webber at the start he would have been second and still ahead of webber.
He was very dumb today at the start. I wont blame hamilton for punturing Vettel's tyre, if it did happen, Vettel was all over the place.
What's worse i thought Vettel had settled down after the first off, but he continued to flail about.

I didn't mention Hamilton's name anywhere so why accuse him? I guess if the cap fits....

He had no part at all in the accident with Hamilton. Hamilton was still a good foot away from the inside of copse corner when the accident happened. He could have avoided the contact if he had used all the room Seb gave him.
Hamilton stated that he lost front downforce as he dived under Webber's rear wing so I doubt Hamilton could have tightned his line even if he had seen Vettel coming. He also stated that he didn't feel the touch and as there appeared to be no damage to his front wing (nor did Vettel's back end get pushed out noticeably) the touch was quite light. Unfortunately it was enough to puncture the tyre. Such is the problem with open wheel racing.

Just to nit pick - Vettel's front wheel impacted behind Sutil's front wheel meaning that Sutil was ahead on the corner. Didn't you say in Turkey that this gave you the right to follow any line you wanted and that the following car had to get out of the way. You used this to justify criticism of Webber.
People, I'm on guard today. So, I'll deal with any fights that start because of unsubstantiated opinions. I'm a spaniard, so, if Spain loses today, I'm gonna be angry. I'm already angry having to read so many unsubstantiated opinions...
This should be a place to discuss the technical aspects of the race, not the intentions of the drivers. I guess that's clear enough.

Don't you have any numbers, only favoritism and explanations for race incidents? I know you can do better.

Again back in Turkey Vettel was a good foot or more away from the side of the circuit when he impacted Webber's car - do you now hold Webber blameless as Vettel clearly had enough room?

I have always held Webber blameless for that one. Or did you mean to ask WhiteBlue?

On the radio 5 commentary, Antony Davidson stated that it had to be the left front of Hamilton's wing as drivers had been running over the kerbs in the first corner all weekend and there had been no punctures.
Watching the onboard from Hamilton's car it certainly looks to have been from his front wing. There is an obvious puff of smoke. It must have been quite a soft touch though because Hamilton's wing didn't appear to shed any pieces.

Possibly weakened the tyre, which was further weakened with the run over the curb, and then disintegrated under load through the next sequence of corners?
