Or maybe Piquet is just rubbish?myurr wrote: Either way I guess all that was stopping Piquet from matching Alonso was a 6 day test.

you are joking right? Piquet got lucky with the SC that's it. But then instead of goign on to with the race, she just gave the place to LH without any fight....andrew wrote:All that stopped Piquet was Briatore and Alonso. Very sensible thing to say, not taking any risks when there is a much faster car behind.wikipedia race report wrote:Piquet was delighted with his drive to second after qualifying 17th, saying:
I am obviously very happy! After qualifying yesterday I was thinking that my weekend was over, but we opted for an aggressive strategy in the race and the team made some great decisions when the safety car came out. Then I had to concentrate to keep my pace up and look after my tyres as much as possible towards the end of the race. I knew that Lewis was much faster than me, so I did not want to take any pointless risks. This second place today is a great reward for the whole team.
In GP2 Piquet was the established driver in his second season whereas Hamilton was the rookie in his first season. Hamilton was the faster driver, Piquet the more consistent finisher routinely just bagging the points.andrew wrote:He isn't in F1 due to crashgate. His lower series results are pretty good and he was Hamilton's closest rival in GP2. Now by that if everyone thinks Hamilton is good then Piquet can't be all that far off. Unless Hamilton isn't all that good?
I reckon if he had started in another team without such a high profile team mate he would have developed as a driver a lot better.
By your own logic, then anyone involved in this incident wouldn't be welcome in F1 anymore regardless of their talent?andrew wrote:He isn't in F1 due to crashgate. He is damaged goods as far as team bosses are concerned.
Not at all. Can't see how you work that one out.Shaddock wrote:By your own logic, then anyone involved in this incident wouldn't be welcome in F1 anymore regardless of their talent?andrew wrote:He isn't in F1 due to crashgate. He is damaged goods as far as team bosses are concerned.
If he's damaged goods because of the race fixing incident then surely everyone who had a direct involement would be 'damaged goods' as well?andrew wrote:Not at all.
