I would suggest that the "cable" from the data-collection box is in fact armored, heat resistant, air-lines leading to an array of pitot tubes, at least that's what I think I can see lurking in the shadows of this image:

does this mean,if the axle was ripped, that the gearbox suffered damage too? will they have to change the gearbox?

I suppose this was a used gearbox and engine used for FP.I think the actual "race" gearbox is resting back in the garage,so there wouldn't be a problem about that.The question is that can they make the car back to one piece in time?

Someone in McLaren marketing definitely missed a trick, from the last few pages evidence they should have had that part of the car stickered up like NASCAR, would have paid for the weekend.

McLaren surely isn't happy about the photos.

Don't know if it has already been mentioned, but my understanding was that so far, all the copycat blown diffusers (Fer, Merc, Ren) were only blowing over the diffuser.

From the temperature paint inside the diffuser, it looks possible that McLaren have attempted to do the Full Monty and copy the Red Bull and also blow through the diffuser. Perhaps why things are looking so tricky for them right now.
