Renault R30

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

@expensive
could be a linkage to the ARB
the RHS seems to be disconnected in the photo (missing bolt)

@marcus
sounds sensible (ARB)

And just what might ARB and RHS be?

Well, it is surely connected to the ARB somehow, but the linkage itself seems to rigidly connect the movement between RHS and LHS.

If it's not the AHS of course.

Correct. I think it's a case of severe motivation, which might be what has sparked Ferrari's performance jump with some not-so-nice rumours coming from Italy. I digress though.

Nothing motivates an organisation more than survival, and you add that to the fact that Renault still have the same people with them who helped them win championships as well as very well developed windtunnel and CFD infrastructures and it's no surprise what they're able to do seemingly on a weekly basis.

Re: Renault R30

The one thing i am surprised about is the fact that renault didnt forge a technichal alliance with Red Bull for supply of their gearbox for the R30. This would mean that Renault could have ran the pull rod suspension and minimised their coke bottle shape futher.

May have had compromises, but may have made them better. But i can see the R31 next year having the Red Bull rear end on it so as to maximise downforce on the rear of the car next year.

I suppose it's difficult to forge a technical alliance with a team that had their engine down as "Second choice" if they couldn't get Mercedes power.
