I'm sorry JET, all that three-pointed star affection for nothing, when I'm afraid that Mercedes' involvement as team-owners will prove a misjudgement of biblical proportions, something which will make Honda's engagement look sensible.

MS surely leaves after this season, while Ross Brawn will have enough of the Stuttgart suits by the end of 2011,
while if not, I'll eat that Nomex suit with sauerkraut.

xpensive so you keep promising!

May I feed it to you if it does come good?

You may indeed JET, we can meet at the 2112 German GP to deliver punishments. You bring the Nomex, sauerkraut and plenty of beer, while I present you a complete and outrageous Ferrari/Alonso outfit for you to wear during the weekend.

To keep this on topic, Hasselhof is an ageing star hoping to make a comeback with a popular vehicle back in the day(Baywatch), not unlike Schumacher.. :o

People worried about Mercedes participation should look very closely at what Ferrari does in the next 2-3 years.
They will focus their attention on another racing series to burn some of the millions they make, as F1 will no longer be a cash furnace.

A new Group C? Maybe this is what the world of Motorsport needs. Cars more closely resembling production models, with tech that can be derived/inspired from production cars.
Im not saying Ferrari will leave F1, but when their focus shifts, so will McLarens and so will Mercedes. And when that happens the Media will follow too.
Lets see what "The Horse whisperer" has to say about the team orders meeting the FIA are chairing. Some say the whisperer is Luca himself.......

MrM is still lurking. Teams were let off under his rule and I expect Ferrari to make this point to get off with their antics in Germany.

Gentlemen,

may I kindly ask to please stick to the topic. I can understand that because of the team's lackluster performance there is little to talk about, but can we then please dig up some technical issues rather than filling this thread up with, well garbage. I'm sorry but I fail to find another word.

As such, I have removed all posts that I deem too far off-topic, and we will continue to do so in this thread without notice.

I am particularly saddened by you guys knowing that this won't be accepted, and still pushing along. Mind that we are more than happy to ban you if you really want it.

There have been increasing rumours in the continental press, that Haug is to be replaced. But Mercedes are reported to have denied the rumours. But remember, "there's no smoke without fire". Watch this space....

It's why I'm done and dusted with this thread. It should probably be closed until next season or something until people can discuss the topics being brought up. I hazard a guess that the three pointed star supporters will fall rather silent then.

Three pointed star blind worship, people claiming that they didn't mean what they wrote because something meaningless changed the context, excuses for Mercedes falling back this season and blaming things that are still the team's fault, heralding the 'resource restriction' as cause for cheer but falling silent when someone points out what the resource restriction will actually mean in practice.........

It's small wonder the thread has veered off like it has. Is it possible that Mercedes and Schumacher will turn up and win next season? Yes. However, everything that we've been over suggests that it isn't going to happen. How long do we have to wait for someone to eat their Nomex suit?

Indeed seg, the moment I learned that Haug was little more than a self-made journo it became so very clear how this mess came about, he must have talked Zetsche and the rest of the board into thinking with their hearts for a moment, believing they could make a quick marketing-coup by purchasing the 2009-WCC and bring a retired legend out of retirement.

While Mercedes not retaining the WDC was a sign of overconfidence, the latter's decision to leave was a sign of realism.

I don't see why not. It seems entirely logical that now Mercedes have their own team, and it's a long way behind, they really, really don't want the engine manufacturer for the team that's a long way ahead of them (and the team they are competing for fourth with!) to get horsepower parity. There's a bit of politiking going on, but it is pretty much a certainty that the Renault is down on a bit of power compared to Mercedes. If the Renault gets that power sooner rather than later then Mercedes look even worse than they are now.
