Renault R30

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Why do you think so?
Do you remember why Toyotas started from the last row at Australia'09?

yes because of it flexing too much, as long as you stay within the limits.

Benefit of flexi rear wing (which was stalling at high speed, same as F-duct) was eliminated when FIA required spacers between wing planes.
So you can only gey so much from it, it differs greatly from front wing which if you lower it enough works in ground-effect conditions.

you have to remember though that everything flexes. It might just be a few microns/nanometers/micrometers whatever, but it WILL flex. It's just that they manufacture the wings to flex to a certain limit.

The Monza wing has an additional Horizontal Red member to the endplate.

Anyway.. a change to the front wing does not subtract as much drag as a change to the rear wing. This is due to the bulky body of the car being behind the front wing. So we may see teams running the same or slightly modified front wings instead of wings with reduced bumber profiles.

OK, you're right. It was slightly cut on the second plate and they've added that small red bit. But I think, that black gurney flap was there already.

At Canada Renault went a bit too far with reducing the front wing and they had tyre problems (all teams had, but Kubica pitted one more time than most other drivers), so maybe they're not eager to make that mistake once again.

There is strange triangle shape at the upper element end of the rear wing.
