Is this a real F1 car?

Post

Hello, guys! Found this topic, hope it is right one for my message ;)
My question is – is this car, which was presented in Riga, Latvia as 2004 F1 racecar and was trying to beat Biķernieki track record is actually genuine F1, which has been competing in races back then? There is a bit of confusion this car to be considered as F3000 or some kind of hybrid. What do you recon?
You can check links bellow to find video of the event and some additional information on car in driver's homepage ;)

This is definitely not original Renault R24 (or any other model that I know of) as raced in period.
I think it's "some kind of hybrid".

You can find pictures and data on all Renault F1 cars here: http://www.f1technical.net/f1db/teams/94
For more pictures look here.

The first thing you'll notice is that the front suspension does not look like anything used on Renault F1 cars. I do not recognise the monocoque, nor the airbox. The wings definitely belong to F1. However the rear one would surely not be legal in 2004 with more than 2 planes. Multi-plane rear wings were banned after 2003.

The engine sounds unmistakably like F1 V10. Btw, it sounds so sweet on trhat tree-lined circuit. =D>

[-X engine is said to be 3000 cc V8  It is considered to be Judd engine :)
I checked your provided photo galeries - some intresting things, for example, I can not find similar nose on F1 cars, all of them seems to be different

My bad. It's a V8 indeed. Why would Renault use a Judd engine?

Well it wasn't designed to race in F1. So I guess no. But then, there are 2 or 3-seater F1 cars. They still call them F1 so...
