Red Bull RB6

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It could be cooling related, it's a straighter path for air piped to caliper if it were at the back, than if the piping has to curl to the bottom.
What's more if this cooling was not being distributed evenly on the caliper then there might be uneven expansion of the caliper aftecting the performance and reliability.
It seems the air can be more evenyl distributed if the caliper was simply downstream instead of around a bend. Other than that it could do with the electronics positioning as well.
For Sure!!

If you got flex in the bearing system /Hub the car will sit with more negative camber on the road compared to the upright. under braking/acceleration the wheel/disc will toe in/out thats right...errr not under braking as the disc will be clamped by the pads...and here we got one further issue.. disc and disc bell will of course have a misalignment under braking loads when you got flex in the bearing system...oh...

Renault also used (almost) horizontaly placed brake calipers in 2009 (the whole season)
but R30's front calipers are 'normally' placed. :-k

Hello!

I'm new in this forum. Since a few month, i read especially this thread, because i am building the Red Bull car. Sorry for my bad english :? .
Now i hope that someone could answer a few questions for me.

Look at this site to see my car. Unfortunately it's in german, but i think, you can "read" the pictures. It's full scratch and out of paperboard.

Okay, i understand. But do you know where the air intake is placed at the RB6? Maybe in the side pod cooling air intake?

Thanks!
