Education Tool On Aerodynamics

Beside wind tunnel and CFD software, can anyone please tell me is there any smaller engineering tool/equipment to illustrate student on aerodynamics?

Go to a turbulent torrent or river and watch the flow of the water.
Sounds stupid but that is what Leonardo da Vinvi did.
