Mercedes GP MGP W01

Good in theory but exactly how many updates did the BGP001 sport? Not many in my view.

And when did the staff cuts take place exactly Gibells?
December 2008.

Sure but your implication is that their design team were resourced to updates of the BGP001 during the latter parts of the 2009 campaign, thereby affecting the W01's progress. Well that logic doesn't hold up because there were no updates to the BGP001. Just a sorry-assed excuse for a misled design, IMO.

But hey, as you've been saying, they've not done too badly considering they're fourth in a year of new management focus. Roll on W02.

Sure, the W02 seems more promising.

Remember last year when Barrichello and Vettel were reeling in Button? The car couldnt run in cooler conditions etc. Well Brawn looked at various ways of getting their car to run more predictably.
Basically alot of their updates were taken off or retried to get an understanding of what their problems were.

As Brawn himself said, when 40% of your workforce has disappeared more than just manpower is lost. New ways of working have to be forged, and this does not happen overnight.

Where is it possible to view details of next years car? Surely all of next years cars would be looking promising, but I have not seen any details of any car being released as yet.

I think he meant the prospects for the W02 seems more promising.

But boy, will they land themselves in some seriously hot water if is as mediocre as the W01.

over the years of this team's existence, I see no real reason for optimism. Sure Brawn is a strong delegator, but over the years this team has looked as though they have a distinct lack of design talent. I've never seen the team produce a good update package either. When you don't design strong cars and don't produce strong upgrades it doesn't speak well for the Shumeister's chances.

Looks like Ross will be spending more time in his Technical Director role.
I also believe he will be stepping down from the Technical Working Group lead role.
Although I do think he will attend races, just not all of them.

This is all speculation, but I think Jock Clear will oversee the Race operations and engineering side in his new role, taking over some of Ross' responsibilities at the track. Curious about what Shovlin will do.

Any ideas on where the current engineers might be headed?

Andrew Shovelin was good pals with JB last year if I remember rightly, any chance he might follow him to McLaren?

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
