Tyre Models in F1 Simulator

Post

Hi,
Does anyone know which tyre model Formula one Team are using in there simulator?
See you.

well, for testing upgrades to this years cars, presumably this years tyres

but pirelli have already provided preliminary data for next year to the teams , so presumably they are using that for their 2011 tests
to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

Is it pacejka model or FTire?

Isn't FTire much "heavier" than Pacejka? I don't think FTire runs in real-time. So for their real-time simulators like that in the Red Bull videos I don't think it's possible to use that. I don't know much about it, but are there really only two tire models?
I hasn't really got anything to do with F1 simulators, but as far as I know, most simulator-games use a modified version of Pacejka.

Don't think any F1 team is going to share that kind of information. Not going to be public knowledge.
Grip is a four letter word. All opinions are my own and not those of current or previous employers.

doesn't the pirelli press release state that all teams are just given the same data , their choice because they didn't want to ask questions and give away information

Considering the resources the bigger teams have as far as computing power/hardware and simulation software I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them have developed their own model.

For instance, David Kaemmer (The main physics guy behind iRacing) has spent the last couple years (and still is) developing their own model. This model is supposed to generate a tire model based on the tires physical characteristics (sidewall dimensions, tread/surface compound, materials, construction, etc.)

If a couple guys from a low budget (in comparison to Formula One level resources)can develop their own model, I assume some of the teams would as well.

I would assume the models they make/made are often compared directly to pacejka, as that is still, from what I understand, the industry standard.
