WOW, Hamilton clearly overdrove the car with oversteering and beeing off the track just to be only 2 tenths behind Vettel. =D>
Of course we don't know the amount of fuel ...

Hamilton and Vettel clearly are Abu Dhabi specialists. 1 and 2 now and everyone else it at least 4 tenths off.

Thanks for everyone who came in to me with stream links

It's just Friday first session. Don't read too much into the times. And LH clearly overdrove the car.

I know, but it's a sighter. Should the race end in the FP1 order, Vettel would be champion.

Webber wasnt running for times.
He had flow vis paint all over the rear of his car, with Newey shaking his head apprently. Are Red Bull covering all bases in case Alonso engine goes pop?
Wouldnt surprise me, I hate conspiracies but Red Bull want Vettel to be champ I think most agree on this?
More could have been done.

If Massa crashes and Vettel and Webber have to pit at the same time, then Alonso can overtake one of them, if he's close enough. Too bad (for Alonso) that Massa isn't likely to do that on purpose (he's no youngster and has had a serious accident too). But still Alonso can hope for another car to crash and bring out a safety car. I still think Alonso will win the title. With less than 7 points so it can be even more controversial. Alonso is the new Shoemaker. F1 has faces and heels [villains] just like "professional" wrestling :p

Given the vast expanses of runoff surrounding most of the circuit, what would you say are the most likely causes of a Safety Car period in Abu Dhabi?

Are there any specific points on the circuit (other than the pit lane tunnel) that look likely to be danger zones that could lead to a SC deployment?

Sudden heavy rain (not that impossible any more).

Or the wish of the FOM for some dramatics: Senna and/or di Grassi will get a radio call form Charlie Whiting: "The race is boring! Can you confirm that you unterstood that message?" Then they have to crash while being lapped to rough up the leaders.

I think Red Bull are keeping an eye on Alonso, as they have to really. He was extremely cagey about explaining his engine situation and it was impossible for him to hide it. There's also the problem of Hamilton and possibly Kubica getting ahead of him on the grid and making life really difficult to the point where he has to race them. Alonso tried to puff his chest out a bit with his 'If I finish second' prediction, but this race looks like it might be a bit uncomfortable for him.
