Hexheads is verboten from a stricly esthetic perspective, when nothing, and I seriously mean nothing, can hold a candle against countersunk socketheads in that department. Nobody in my office would ever try a hexhead and live to tell the world about it.

Though a hex is far more practical and torqueable, but that's not the point, there are simply things you don't do.

I agree to the hexpolt thing ..but inside hex is not that much better and can be a bitch to work on ..
really the cool ticket is Torx to me ,especially outside torx heads with integrated washer ...
This is really providing ultimate grip plus that engineered look Exp is missing here.
btw it´s ,apart from that cheapish shiny plating look not std bolts .these have reduced head size integrated washers.wonder if these are fullshank bolts or unersize shank bolts though

the outside torx is quite rare ....but german car makers have certainly found an affinity towards them.

Torx...even outside torx at that...don't go perverted on me marcush, at least not on weinachten!

MC6S is the way to go, I can even live with the Alu- or Ti-kind if needed, but they have to countersunk with sniff tolerance.

Who knows, yourself and mep might end up working for me in Zweibrucken one of these days?

I suppose you are the guys who design them with a slight offset on the faces so as to monopolise the sale of sockets to undo the damn things.

I'm a fan of the 12-pointers.

Did you guys see the list of FIA approved fastener drive types for 2013:

E-Torx (the real name for outside torx) = AWESOME!

Very hard to round off an E-Torx compared to a 6point fastener.

BMW loves torx and as a technician, I'm thankful for it!

My engineers/tecnicians/workshopers, would never, and I mean never ever, round off an inside hex on my watch.

Far easier to grip an outside hex if it gets rounded off.
Thats getting back to the nuts and bolts of the issue.

Seriously. I am involved with a fair bit of vintage restoration at present and I can tell you guys that it is a good thing they used basic nuts and bolts 100+ years ago, or we would not be able to undo anything.

Does anybody have any information on the development of fasteners from way back.
