The Lotus flower is a very Asian motive, perhaps some variation can be found.

The "new Lotus" or whatever never felt right (at least not to me). Names, logos, trademarks -- they can be very important. What would have been next -- a driver legally changing his name to Jim Clark?

The interesting part to me is that the Chapman's actually gave Lotus Racing their blessing, but their blessings seems to come and go with the swoosh of a pen.

I don't understand this at all. One minute they support it then they don't.

Although i like what TF was doing (or his intentions anyway) and hate what group lotus done, i can't see the point now. In my eyes his fighting a loosing battle, especially he has lost backing of the Chapman family.

lets see how lotus group is going to pay for all what they have announced..Fernandes seems to be the one in the equation who has proven already he knows to run a business..
The lotus group stories are ...leaving me speechless even some AMG guy has joined them....and he should know that words alone won´t cut the mustard.

I'm certain that we will soon hear contradictive news. Two Malaysia-owned Lotus teams in Formula one? Yeah right...

It would explain a great many things.

This whole Group Lotus thing is run on nothing but hot air. Proton simply cannot afford what Bahar's silly ambitions want and I see he's managed to sweet-talk the ignorant Chapmans who have no connection to AC in any way other than the name.

I still maintain that all Fernandes has to do is sit and wait.

I see this as evidence of the sad state of affairs in F1, it has no lure for manufacturers anymore, xcept for one xample.
McLaren is obviously preparing to downscale its future engagement and what Ferrari thinks nobody can know for certain.

I'm afraid that this why there was no objection to the silly 1.6 I4 turbo thing, nobody plans to take part,
leaving F1 to be a VW/Pirelli sponsored worldwide "Indycar" series. MrM finally won his battle if you wish.

I hope manufacturers stay just as engine suppliers and leave the running of the private guys.
What did BMW add that williams BMW did not?
What did Renault add that williams renault did not?
The list goes on, Mclaren, Stewart, BAR.................

I know that you will come up with a theory that the manufacturer’s involvement in the last few years brought the most competitive cars. That is total BS cars were close together coz development in many areas of the car were frozen which let to a stagnant formula.

+1 WilliamsF1 : I'm starting to think that this forum needs the equivalent of a "like" button (though preferably not one that connects to Facebook)

I'm not sure what lure there ever was for manufacturers. Some seemed to make a connection that because they made cars then it immediately followed that building racing cars was a logical next step. Once manufacturers ran their own teams there was a feeling that they really didn't know what was supposed to happen next.

If VW end up coming and and dominating as they've done in other racing formulas, although I'm surprised it's happened, then that's the way it is. You won't see VW be stupid enough to run their own team.

The 1.6 turbo format is at least an attempt to try and inject some innovation into the sport and to make it relevant technology-wise, but it just doesn't go far enough. I can't see Renault being around in the sport in a couple of years either so something had better happen to secure the future of that team.

Which makes it even more mysterious that one manufacturer went against everrybody else's wisdom about a year ago,
four little indians moving out, but one coming in?

Renault will soon announce that they will stick aroung for two seasons more, but that's it, Ferrari will make good on their
promise not to compete with an I4, which leaves the three pointed star to fight for the glory with RBR-VW and FI.
