Mercedes GP W02

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

What a good example of German Accuracy and Efficiency, even in a PR announcement!

I only wish they had specified the time accurate to the nearest microsecond.

hehehe ..
It is maybe related to the german(schwäbisch) breakfast time ...
you would not dare to even speak to a mechanic(let alone master mechanic, the god of the workshop) between 9.00 and 9.20...unless you were prepared to never ever receive any favours or friendly service from the chap...
so first the wrenchers have to get their food ..then some fancy PR crap can be done... german work culture.Iron law.

That's a W01 airbox, with a grey layer over it to make it look like a traditional roll hoop.
This pic is just some thrown out red meat, or should i say rubber meat, since it's fake.

I have moved some posts discussing the infamous pull-rod suspension over to the recently created thread for just that topic. To avoid confusion and getting posts moved please refrain from delving too far off topic.

Im sticking to my guns, in thinking it will be red bull-esque.
JET - I recall similar comments in the McLaren thread. I guess it is an obvious safe move to copy the dominant car from last season, especially when it was the dominant non-DDD car from the season before as well.

Once the entire grid has mimicked the RB approach, the time will be ripe for another team to to do something different and set a new benchmark.

Agreed Richard.

The air box looks thinner than the BGP01. The front nose looks a little higher than the W01. We'll see in a few weeks time!

Is this what the nose of the W02 will look like??? Or is it another BGP001 tease for the new car???

The one in the back looks to me like taken from W01. I'm not that sure about the second, but I think I don't see that characteristic bulk just after black part. So maybe it's new...

hi, the nose looks to thin to be in the bgp001 and the angle isnt as harsh as the w01 so i believe it is the w02's nose

These pictures look very manipulated. Pointless to try to find new things.

The first nose is a Honda 2008(or 2007?)(my guess, or they painted a windtunnel model of W01) nose. The second nose must be a Brawngp001 nose. Mercedes painted the old cars in the new colour scheme.
The Honda nose was used by Ross Brawn and German magazine Auto Motor und Sport to fool its readers in early 2010, when they told the readers that it was the nose of the W01.

No W02 here! (my opinion, maybe wrong!)

I would not believe anything released by Mercedes. The released teaser picture of the car on their site looks nice, but as discussed here on this forum it may is just a photoshopped combination of a brawngp001 and W01.

To be honest, I really don't care any longer at this point, because it's less than two weeks until we'll see the real thing - and it's the same for almost all teams. I can wait ;)
