The more I look at the car, the more slippery the rear end looks. Very clean airflow, nothing particularly clever about it but very nice execution.

The new shaped rims are a bit thinner than the old ones, so they probably reworked them to match the new regulations:

The Rear wear end plates look pretty thick. Do we think that's because of they have to accommodate wires etc for the rear wing actuation or are there darker forces at work here?

symantics aside, yes Tyrrell treid it many years ago and Citroen had it in their road cars.

I suspect RedBul has had something similar since 2009 - hence all the ride height control accusations. This is Ferrari's version.
lets see if other teamsalso come up with something similar.

Horse, when the cars had flat bottoms the floor also had plentyo rake to move the Centre of pressure forward for better aerodynamic balance. Npt a new trick but it calso just be that there is no fuel in it and the car was not set up correctly for he race track. It runs for the first time on Tuesday?

Funny that the wear pins are different on the LF & RF tires. Musta really cobbled whatever was available for the unveiling.

Finalmente la prima monoposto di F1 in configurazione 2011 è stata svelata questa mattina a Maranello. I tecnici della Ferrari, nelle anticipazioni, avevano parlato di una monoposto estrema soprattutto a livello aerodinamico.

La delusione a primo impatto è tanta. Più che di stravolgimento del progetto F10 mi sembra una evoluzione della monoposto dello scorso anno. Sono però convinto che molte componenti aerodinamiche innovative sono state volutamente tenute nascoste e verranno introdotte piano piano durante i test invernali. Già a Valencia la monoposto subirà sicuramente delle evoluzioni rispetto a quella mostrata questa mattina.

A livello aerodinamico, come previsto, la parte anteriore della scocca è stata completamente rivista alzando sia il muso che il posto guida. Questo ha comportato la realizzazione di un telaio molto scavato e arcuato nella parte inferiore in modo da permettere il maggior afflusso possibile di aria verso il retrotreno in modo che il diffusore possa lavorare nel migliore dei modi generando più carico deportante possibile.

Il diffusore presentato è molto simile a quello della F60 e rispetta alla lettera il regolamento tecnico 2011 che prevede l’introduzione di diffusori molto convenzionali. Mi aspetto che questo subisca delle notevoli evoluzioni per sfruttare alcune lacune regolamentari che ancora sono presenti in quella zona. Mi aspetto che bandelle dell’alettone posteriore vengono estese fino a sfiorare il suolo in modo da aumentare la grandezza del diffusore e quindi aumentare la sua efficienza. Questa non sarebbe una soluzione innovativa perché è la stessa che ha introdotto Adrian Newey con la Red Bull RB5 e mi aspetto venga copiata e migliorata da parecchi team.

Gli scarichi sono rimasti bassi in quanto garantiscono al diffusore posteriore di lavorare al massimo garantendo livelli alti di carico deportante nella zona posteriore. A detta di Nikolas Tombazis gli scarichi e l’ala posteriore saranno delle zone in cui ci saranno delle grandissime modifiche durante i test invernali e durante la stagione.

Per quanto riguarda le ali si nota che quella anteriore è molto simile a quella usata al termine della stagione 2010 mentre quella posteriore è conforme al nuovo regolamento tecnico 2011 che prevede l’introduzione del Mobil Rear Wing o ala posteriore mobile. Quest’ala subirà un notevole sviluppo durante la stagione e sarà molto diversa già dai primi test di Valencia.

Le pance, come previsto, sono state completamente ridisegnate soprattutto nelle bocche d’aria che ora sono molto più piccole e squadrate (stile McLaren). A differenza della Red Bull restano operò troppo voluminose a discapito della massima efficienza aerodinamica.

A livello aerodinamico la monoposto sembra troppo convenzionale per questo, almeno credo, subirà sicuramente un evoluzione sostanziale fin dai primi test in pista a Valencia.

Le novità maggiori, la Ferrari f150 le presenta a livello meccanico. La sospensione anteriore è di tipo push – rod, ma è stato completamento rivisto il punto di ancoraggio al telaio che ora è molto inclinato in modo da essere più aggressivi sulle gomme anteriori e non avere i problemi di bassa temperatura avuti l’anno scorso.

Come da noi evidenziato, a differenza di altre testate molto importanti nel mondo del motor sport italiano e straniero, la sospensione posteriore è rimasta di tipo push – rod ma è stato completamente rivisto il cambio, ora diventato, molto più stretto e alto per poter sfruttare al meglio il diffusore posteriore.

La novità maggiore di questa Ferrari F150 sta nelle sospensioni “interconnesse” (anteriore e posteriore collegate tra di loro) collegate tra di loro tramite un circuito idraulico. Questo tipo di sospensione aiuta a migliorare la distribuzione dei pesi su tutte e quattro le ruote (minor usura gomme) aumentando la stabilità meccanica soprattutto nelle curve veloci. Per aumentare la stabilità nelle curve rapide, tallone d’Achille del progetto F10, è stato inoltre leggermente aumentato il “passo” della vettura.

La Ferrari ha lavorato tantissimo per introdurre nel migliore dei modi il KERS in vettura cercando di sfruttare l’esperienza accumulata con tale soluzione nel 2009. Tutto il sistema è stato miniaturizzato ed ora il KERS è molto più piccolo e leggero rispetto a quello usato sulla F60. Nel sistema KERS è stato migliorato e cambiato il sistema di connessione tra motore elettrico (MGU Motor Generator Unit) e motore endotermico. Indiscrezioni dicono che la MGU sia inclinata e questo potrebbe supporre che la Ferrari F150 nasconda delle sorprese sul fondo della vettura. È stato rivisto l’albero motore, cambiato il sistema di raffreddamento e di lubrificazione sfruttando un serbatoio olio unico sia per motore elettrico che endotermico. Le batterie di stoccaggio dell’energia recuperata in frenata o decelerazione della vettura, sono posizionate nella parte bassa del serbatoio del carburante e non più sotto il sedile del pilota. Tale posizione è stata scelta sia per rispettare il bilanciamento dei pesi della vettura imposto per regolamento sia per avere un bilanciamento ottimale delle vettura.

Per quanto riguarda il motore o56 Ferrari, non potendo agire per migliorare le prestazioni si è cercato di lavorare in collaborazione con Shell per migliorare l’efficienza del motore e limitare i consumi.

Finally, the first F1 car setup in 2011 was unveiled this morning in Maranello. The technicians of the Ferrari, in anticipations, had spoken of a car especially in the extreme aerodynamic.

The disappointment is so great at first glance. More than a distortion of the F10 project seems an evolution of the car last year. But I am convinced that many innovative aerodynamic components have been deliberately kept secret and will be introduced gradually during the winter tests. In Valencia the car certainly will undergo developments than the one shown this morning.

In terms of aerodynamics, as expected, the front of the chassis was completely revised by raising the nose and the cockpit. This has led to the creation of a highly carved frame and arched at the bottom to allow the greatest possible flow of air to the rear so that the speakers can be in the best way possible to generate more downforce load.

The speaker presented is very similar to the F60 and strictly respect the technical regulations 2011 which provides for the introduction of very conventional speakers. I expect this is affected by the significant developments to take advantage of some regulatory gaps that still exist in that area. I expect the rear wing flaps are extended until they touch the ground in order to increase the size of the speaker and thus increase its efficiency. This would not be an innovative solution because it is the same one that introduced Adrian Newey to Red Bull RB5 and I expect to be copied and improved by several teams.

Discharges have been low as they ensure the rear diffuser to work more than ensuring high levels of downforce in the rear cargo. According to Nikolas Tombazis discharges rear wing will be areas where there will be tremendous changes during the test and during the winter season.

As for the wings you notice that the front is very similar to that used at the end of the 2010 season while the rear is in accordance with new technical regulations 2011 which provides for the introduction of Mobil Rear Wing Rear Wing or mobile. This wing will undergo considerable development during the season and will be very different since the first test in Valencia.

The benches, as expected, have been completely redesigned, especially in air vents that are now much smaller and square (McLaren-style). Unlike Red Bull are still too voluminous worked to the detriment of the maximum aerodynamic efficiency.

A aerodynamically the car seems too conventional for this, I think, certainly will undergo a substantial evolution from the first test session in Valencia.

The new major, the Ferrari F150 has a mechanical level. The front suspension is a push - rod, but has been completely revised the anchor to the frame that is now much inclined to be more aggressive on the front tires and not having the problems of low temperature had last year.

Unconfirmed reports say that the MGU and that may be inclined to suppose that Ferrari F150 hidden surprises at the bottom of the car. It was revised crankshaft, changed the cooling system and lubricating oil tank using a single electric motor that both endothermic. The battery storage energy recovered during braking or deceleration of the car, are located at the bottom of the fuel tank and no longer under the driver's seat. This location was chosen both to satisfy the car's weight balance is imposed by regulation for an optimal balance of the car.

As for the Ferrari engine O56, unable to take action to improve performance has sought to work in collaboration with Shell to improve engine efficiency and reduce consumption.

Hard to say, the still image from the video is quite badly lit in that area, perhaps deliberately. You might be onto something there though!

We'll have to wait for testing to see the real car. They do this every year. :wtf:
I like it though, it's clean and simple. The front is very mclaren, and so are the sidepods with the spoilers above the radiator.

The upper and lower a arms are closer together in the rear; maybe for the exhaust flow to pass by unrestricted?
The rear suspension is very interesting and very flushed with the a arms. It's very inboard and hardly even seems to be on the gearbox.

The rest of it, i'll just wait till testing, the front wing and rear wing, diffuser, even engine covers could make this car look completely different.

2011 Ferrari F150 launch - High Resolution Photos

Ferrari has launched their 2011 Formula 1 car at their base in Maranello.The car was launched with several 2010 aerodynamic parts visible including the front and rear wings. Scuderia Ferrari new logo features prominently on the engine cover.
