Newspaper published 2011 Mercedes GP W02 Photos

German newspaper has revealed the first photo of Mercedes 2011 W02. Bild am Sonntag published a photo showing the W02 with a very high and wide nose, a shinier silver livery and a reversion to a more conventional airbox. The car will only be officially launched on Tuesday morning before it is tested for the first time as pre-season testing kicks off at Valencia.

“It has a shiny new silver paint, which really illumates the beautiful shapes,” said the German marque’s motor sport vice-president Norbert Haug.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

So it's real. And they rendered it with old RW and FW, the latter one being reminiscent of BGP001. The nose looks almost like a carbon copy of never raced TF110. Airbox from the front view looks rather big. Not much to add...

So it was actually the real deal. Still, it is kind of odd of them to reveal the new car this way, isn't it?

They've made sure that their nose isn't at least the same as next year.

Am I wrong or aren't the sidepods all that different compared to the W01?
The new ones are a bit more triangular though.

That's right, the nose is high. I wonder what other teams have done in this area.

So the TF110 would have had this nose last year. I'm starting to wonder why the teams didn't adopt the platypus last year with an even larger diffuser to feed?

And who won the bet? It's the actual W02 design, but a computer rendering of it...
