would Renault ask Kubica for advice? Is he in any ways competent and in a position to be a help to Renaults decision? I´d think Boullier will inform Robert about the happenings and may ask him about Heidfelds work in BMW as they were teammates but not more. Why should they try to please him,in fact I would put the biggest threat available into the car to make him come back as quickly as possible(and of course to make the most out of the situation )heidfeld was a match to kubica most of the time and he would have won in montreal if Kubica had not delivered.
In fact he led for quite a while and Kubica was very lucky in the Raikkonen /Hamilton/rosberg pileup as he was the fourth car at the pit exit..

Actually, It's quite well known that Alonso recommended Kubica to Renault. I wonder if that affected Renault's decision. Surely that'd be a similar case to now, as the lead driver recommending a replacement.

so it worked once let´s make a habit out of it? Alonso then and Kubica now are in quite a different position ...Kubica wants to return as sson as possible Alonso was on the way out...
But right ..judging from the sheer number of contracted drivers they seem to be at a loss to explain even internally what is needed on the driver front.Retaining petrov for once was not a really good decision.they should have put him as the reserve as friday driver and give him another chance in 2012.

What on earth are you talking about? Kimi and Kubica were next to eachother, but yes he was lucky that Hamilton choose Kimi to drive into. Rosberg came next and drove into Hamilton. Heidfeldt would never have won, if not for the crash, Raikkonen and Hamilton would have battled it out. He was on a one stop strategy, ofcourse he was leading the race for some time! He finished +16.4 seconds!

Having said that, Heidfeld was in front of Kubica before Kubica's second stop, and could've been in his way. He had to play the team game and give way to Kubica

I was just referring to the possibility of Kubica NOT making it to the finish ...As Heidfeld was coming home second.

and referrring to Sennas own assessment of his test:

he just cannot lead Renault into a campaign .

following that logic, Sakon could have easily won many times, if all the drivers in front of him haven't finished the race...that's pointless discussion. Robert won, not Nick back then, deal with it

I agree. Anyone could've won if we argue that the ones infront could've failed to finish. But they did finish. Arguing about a driver should've won if he hadn't had a reliability issue, such as Vettel in Korea, however, is a different matter...

If I were Kubica I would also recommend Luizzi as he seems to be easier to let Kubica drive after his recovery during the season. In case of Heidfeld that decision would not be easy for Renault if Nick gathered a handful of points until that moment....

It would be enjoyable to watch Nick and Nico fighting for their first win this year.

So that's Heidfeld been formally announced. Hopefully he can step up to the challenge but I remain to be convinced.

I'd prefer to see Senna, but not for any foolish misplaced sentimentalism about his uncle and the ONLY real Team Lotus.
