Analytical Suspension Modelling

Post

As part of a university project I am currently working on a number of different suspension models. I am familiar with the traditional quarter car modelling technique and have now been able to implement this using simulink.

I am now looking at modelling an in wheel suspension system. Which uses two springs with the unsprung mass fixed between the two springs.

Similar to shown in this link....

From what I can gather it would need a completely different model as a traditional suspension system.

Any thoughts?

I don't think the principles would change. The effective spring rate would be linear whilst both springs remained preloaded. The only problem I have is to understand why anyone would choose to limit available stroke in that way?
