Have you ever wondered what quell'antennina that F1 has the height of front suspension, inverted L-shaped?
What at first seems a common duck antenna to communicate with the box, in fact conceals a genius as refined method for measuring the speed of vettura.Un speedometer a little more precise than we have normally on our road cars, but that is based on a simple physical concept. This speed sensor consists of two concentric tubes (see zone 3), ie one inside the other, which is placed on the hood of f1.La useful part of the instrument tip and the horizontal line, while the vertical is required to support the above I drew this to the Cad schemettino from which I think is easy to understand how and to whom I shall refer to this explanation. The upper reaches of this instrument must be level because it must be coincident with the flow of air, I drew the blue arrows. The position of the instrument is not accidental. That's the only place where the air comes in the laminar flow that has not suffered the disruption of the ailerons, or the wheels or other parts of the machine. In addition lontanza his neck from the hood due to very high, means that we do not create a vacuum as in the vicinity of the surfaces of devices and vettura.Questi 'oppurtuno setting allow you to have precise measurements and more reliable.

- The air arrives in an area which is the mouthpiece of the pipe smaller, what Rosso.Il red tube bottom is closed and an air flow is a block, an obstacle and compresses the air inside sheath dress of red, making up the pressure.

- The air does not get stuck in one area runs close to the walls of the blue tube, and passes over the openings that I have indicated with number 2. In the area between the Blue Red tube pressure is maintained equal to that of the air that comes as if there were no barriers, that is, the air pressure in front of the car. Under the hood where it enters the neck of the pitot, is an instrument that records the pressure of the pipe in the area between the red and blue tube and rosso.La difference between these two pressures is proportional to velocità.Questo is obviously because the increase the relative velocity between the vehicle and the air pressure inside the red tube increases, while the blue tube in atra remains virtually unchanged.

Simple and effective!

There is clearly a simply forward-loooing pitot tube on top of it, but maybe the profile itself incorporates somethin like this:

to sample precise info about real direction of momentary flow (it's a multi-pitot tube assembly.
