Mercedes GP W02

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to AMuS Mercedes will run the old car today.

As we have just learned, Mercedes is today still take the old car. The updates will be phased in as of tomorrow. Nico Rosberg was not impressed: "I'd been slow to know where we stand."

Lindz,

Mercedes said the updates for the W02 would be at the Barcelona test, not which day
More could have been done.

Given how far off the pace they are and how much they are relying on this upgrade, it's bewildering to give yourself at most 3 days of running.

Not that this was known earlier, but now rain is forcast for Friday and Saturday. So potentially they will have 1 day of dry testing with their 'revolutionary' upgrade package.

Brilliant!

In the Autosport live commentary they're suggesting that the W02 has a new exhaust on it today.
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Autosport.com :

"09:13 Our verdict on the new Mercedes package is that it looks like only an updated exhaust is on the car today, with more updates flowing through from tomorrow."

So mаybe at least an updated exhaust...

does not make sense to me...the exhaust is an aero device possibly harming other components due to the thermal implications...so how can you put7treat this as a isolated component?

Could it be that their earlier cooling issues are related to exhaust and they are testing the same.

The sidepod shape also seems a bit different, more angular on the top...
