A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Hispania seemingly bought the F110 Version 1 Revision 0 IP from Dallara. Dallara wanted it gone, washed their hands of it, it was bought when Hispania paid off the €12m debt from Dallara that was also to buy Version 1 Revision 1 to Revision 5 that was to see them thrugh to Silverstone as per the origional Campos-Dallara conmtract and buisness plan.
That´s Kolles comment on the carryover parts as published in autosport:
Q. How much of the car is totally new, how much carried over?
CK: 95 per cent new. Maybe the brake calipers are the same spec. The underbody is new, the gearbox new, suspension new, uprights new, rear wing new, engine cover, sidepods new, air intake new, monocoque is new homologation and new spec, nosebox new, front wing new, uprights and front suspension new, dampers new, electronics new. Okay, the same McLaren electrics. Hydraulics new, steering wheel new. Maybe the mirrors are still the same.
see the fine line when it comes to the monocoque? new spec new homologation..of course ,as the sideimpact panels are new reg for 2011 and of course they needed a new homologation for that.
Racecar engineering mag does state the following:
The F111 (above) and F110 (below) roll over structures are identical as the F111 retains the top half of the Dallara chassis. This also means that the front suspension layout is also carried over from the Italian car.
in fact the complete front suspension looks the same.... and they already ran the rearend.. so they had dampers fiting to the car....
in all fairness I think HRt did perform the impossible to stay on the grid.this winter.
with White and willis two very good guys work at the design even though the base remains Dallara ...but then who cares.
They got now the best front wing and the guy who has invented it and they have the fitting low profile nose for it as well..
On the HRT facebook fan page they posted:-
"Hispania Racing F1 Team
Both cars and the rest the material are on their way to Australia"
(Thursday at 2:18pm)
Is there any chance that they would be able to have a
shake down before Friday in Australia?
Answer to that question is no, they wouldnt be allowed to use ALbert park, however, Philip Island or any small track where they could be able to do 200km over 2 days, as you cannot use 2 chassis on a single day of shakedown testing.
Theres a few smaller tracks down there that can be used. In reality the first they will use the car is at Albert Park in all honesty. Id expect them to do 30 laps in FP1 and 40 in FP2, with 20 in FP3, 10 laps in Q1 and then try to to a full race distance. Id expect to see them to do arround 158 laps on each car ideally, whitch would be arround 837km for each driver.
At that rate theyll eat up the testing milage and will be in better shape come Europe, altho id still expect them to be behind, however if their car can do a 1 stopper, id say it will suprise some.

Why can't they keep 1 car in storage and use the other for shakedown purposes?
I have to say a shake down in the lower classes should be more for the peace of mind of the driver than for the mechanics who generally should know their trade.
A team in need of fixes after a shake down definetely has other problems.
If you come up to a race with a brandnew car to a new cofiguration this is of course a bit of a step into the uncertain but generally the thing s start to fall apart not instantly but after a days of work...so a single car shake down should at least give them a first insight what to look for.
the real issue will be that HRT will need to go to the limit of the car basically on day two of their testing to even stand a remote chance to get within the 107%
