Speed trap figures look pretty interesting.


despite Mclaren attemp to reduce drag through their L-shape side pod the car doesnt seems to go any faster than merc, who are using the same power plant.

I am surprise to see Ferrari that far down in terms of top speed.

According to the ITV commentators Merc are using a "short chord" rear wing which is what is what is aiding them through the speed traps.

Reminds me of the early '00s, the Ferraris through that final sector were very quick. Sign of a good car? Bit of a straight out of a quick chicane, a 90 degree corner, a fast sweeper, a hairpin basically and then a quick opening radius corner.

The FIA changed the ARW zone, some teams were arguing that this handicapped them as they had already chosen their gear ratios... though practice they can use the ARW to their every whim, this could be why ferrari are so far down, and with the same top speed simply just maxed out in 7th

From what i saw the chassis engine and gear box were all separate.... would have thought they could at least put a car together in time, but i guess thats expecting too much from a formula 1 team

Currently trackside waiting for fp2. One thing that amazed me from fp1 was the sound of the Renault powered cars during engine braking, very harsh indeed the Renault moreso again...much. more noticeable than the merchant and Ferrari engines

Whatwas the deal with vet destroying a front Tyre? At the end of fp1 Vettel was aggressive immediately. Whereas web eased his way into it could explain his faster lap

I thought the tyres were distory during the long run he did early part of FP1?

The sound could be due to their engine mapping to keep the exhaust air firing at the diffuser.

Williams is fast enough to be the third fastest car on the grid, just ahead of Mclaren and Mercedes if they had a better driver pairing comparable to JPM and RS
