FW26 vs MP4-19 today - cant wait.

Post

They're both testing in Jerez. Although test times dont mean much, cant wait for the results of the first head-to-head times.

yeah I'm looking at pic too in f1racing.net. I'm getting excited seeing two 2004 contenders together on the track. If only new Ferrari also on track. Can't wait to see these three "big boys" together fighting on track, slipstreaming, side by side, outbraking and exchanging fastest lap time between them!!!!!

Testing times

Post

These are the Jerez testing times:

1 MONTOYA Williams 1m16.847s
2 ZONTA Toyota 1m17.984s
3 TRULLI Renault 1m18.092s
4 GENE Williams 1m18.099s
5 MONTAGNY Renault 1m18.424s
6 MASSA Ferrari 1m19.002s
7 BADOER Ferrari 1m19.207s
8 PANIS Toyota 1m19.377s

The new williams is top but i suppose it depends on what they were tesing as some teams might be testing brake's for example

That actually sounds more like F1 in 1970 than 2003/2004 :D

These are day two testing times from Jerez

1 MONTOYA Williams 1m16.721s
2 GENE Williams 1m17.197s
3 MONTAGNY Renault 1m17.878s
4 TRULLI Renault 1m17.894s
5 ZONTA Toyota 1m17.974s
6 DE LA ROSA McLaren 1m18.224s
7 MASSA Ferrari 1m18.409s
8 PANIS Toyota 1m18.647s
9 BADOER Ferrari 1m18.684s

The new Maclaren about a second slower but again it all depends on what the teams are testing

Altough i'm a McLaren fan, i have to say the new Williams is fast.I'm beginning to have doubts over the Mp4-19 because of burnt marks always appearing on the exhaust which points out they still rear end heating problems and some hydraulic failures during the test.

two possibilities:

one:smoke from the airbox
two:the guy in grey was smoking

I think crew members just used the fire extinguisher on the exhausts. I’ve seen them doing it very often, just as normal practice, while testing in Monza, first time in June and then also in September, 1 or 2 crew members spray towards the exhausts any time the car is entering in the pit. Apparently it’s unrelated with the car they are testing, indeed they never tested the 18 here, at least, I’ve never seen it.
