What's with the MB top speed? In practice and at Aus they always had a very high top speed. Gearing change for this track or are they on the throttle too late out of the corner to compete in the top speed category?

Doing my post work re-run watch of FP1 & FP2, having a look at the Renault brake/upright issues, and a McLaren on board shot, this is a long shot, but could a marble have been scooped up into the brake cooling duct to cause the problem as McLaren seem to be using some sort of chicken wire to stop marbles getting into the Brake/Upright zone of the car.

Chepoi thanks a lot for the vids !!!

Hold on there a sec.

I've never ever seen Lewis so lively in an interview. He says Red Bull are gonna find at least half a sec. tomorrow in quali, but watch his facial expressions as he says so. I see total confidence. Unless it's something else completely, I think he believes the car will be in a MUCH better position to take the fight to the Bulls tomorrow and sunday.

Also, recently people have been complaining about drivers not showing enough character in interviews etc. (and rightfully so tbh.). If it's got nothing to do with on track performance, it's good to see something different from a driver.

Good point there Shrieker...That caught my attention too...I havent seen Hamilton look so lively in a long time now and quite in a good mood.Heck, even check Button hes looking quite calm compared to last years interviews.

Completely speculative here, but perhaps they know something we don't.

Maybe they have another updated diffusor, or maybe even the much discussed "octopus" ready to be whacked on their cars tomorrow just after FP3?

Or, perhaps they have just been reminded that they're both wealthy men doing something they love, and that very few people have the opportunity to do.

Or ... something else!

When asked about KERS in an interview; Mark Webber says:

"My Kers worked most of the time"

Seriously, lol. What the hell is that supposed to mean :!: Either you have a faultless day with the KERS, or you don't give out a hint that you had even the slightest of issues. If they have a KERS on their car, that is.

The Octopus is illegal and will never be run as the rules clearly state you are only allowed 2 exhaust exits to stop exactly these sort of designs (they have been around since the 80's).

Thanks DJOS, but don't you just love it when a team finds a way to pass the tests even though the whole world KNOWS you're breaking the rule that the test was supposed to enforce!

Good point! They were slow because they didn`t use DRS at all!!!
I was watching on TV both FP1 and FP2 and they didn`t run it ...
Also driver Dirk Muller on Sport1 Germany said that too ... maybe they worked with a prospect of rain race and bear in mind that they will not be allowed to use it?
Btw. who has the effective DRS on the grid? I mean who has the biggest speed difference on speed traps when DRS activated and when not?
