Here is my car, the Hansen GP H4.2.The car was designed in google sketchup, and rendered using Kerkythea 2008.I am competing with this design in an online championship, which can be found at http://www.f1game.tk , and am currently second in the constructors championship with this design. The car as a whole is pretty neat. One of the most interesting and visible features on the car which really makes it stand out is the splitter on the nose cone, the aim of this is to take air away from the middle of the car, and into the sidepod intakes, improving cooling efficiency with a small aero gain. The front wing is really rather complex, with an endplate based on the Renault's, and complex elements.

The roll hoop structure of the car is a mix between a conventional hoop and a blade, giving the advantages of both, although admittedly running a higher COG than a car with just a blade roll structure. The two additional cooling structures above the roll hoop are for Kers cooling.

The sidepods include an extreme coke bottle shape, similar to that seen on the redbull, giving large aero gains, but keeping a low CofG, unlike the double floor shape of the Toro Rosso. The rear wing contains an actuator in the centre to control the DRS, which is fairly low compared to most 2011 designs.

my main rival in the championship is JordanGP (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9400), who has won the first two races, and in order to get to the front, I've decided to go for a new exhaust concept.

The aim of this concept is to get the exhaust gases into the diffuser itself, by using the outer 50mm of the diffuser and opening it up, energising the airflow underneath the diffuser, speeding it up, in order to create more downforce.

Hope you enjoy the car, please give feedback and discuss ideas, thank you to Tozza Mazza for anylysing the car. Ben - Hansen GP - http://www.hansen-motorsport.tk

would you be able to post a picture of the model before being rendered? thanks.

@n smikle โ€“ Thanks so much mate
@pearsey13 โ€“ I started early last year just messing around with Sketch up just making silly thinks like buildings and stuff then moved on to making race track but found them hard and boring :L. I then just started copying some F1 car parts and then when F1-Game said in 2011 we had to make 3D models I made an F1 Car :D. And here is the picture you asked for.

there's a good side view on my F1 car, made in the same program N12ck, don't know if you're just looking for a side view of a car, here is the link viewtopic.php?p=242769&f=6
thanks, TM. :D

I am trying to build my own in sketchup but its a nightmare to build the sidepods and bringing the whole chassis together and understanding the rules clearly, ive looked at the f1 tech guide to the rules and that doesnt outline every rule and measurement

Oh gee thanks :) do you do stuff to one side of the car then do it to the other, or is there an easier way? because i am struggling to make both sides identical. Like the side pods, because they are not square i find it hard to get one side looking like the other :S

thanks anyway! :)

copy that one side, flip it and drag it so it connects, and join up the gaps

Best thing to do is have a drawn design, then go through the rules, decide on a wheelbase, and use boxes where things are allowed, then carve out the desired shapes from your drawings into sketchup. it's difficult and time consuming, but completely worth it.
