Do you think it's a hand crank for KERS?

Could it be something to do with weight distribution ? You know there's lots of fluid in the car you can move around... And he didn't complete his last timed lap (and as a result didn't do the in lap), maybe their car is somehow running with something that enables them to shift weight inside (by fluids ?), and takes some time to return to normal ?

Or it could be a total distraction too... Entirely plausible. That, or they thought "damn, we went too fast, let's stick in the car a bit to draw attention off" lol.

It's suspicious. His car was the only one that the mechanics cooled after parking...I didn't remember was the engin running while he was in ?

Vettel's car was smoking in practice, & a couple team staff with blowers stopped by the car as he exited. Maybe related?

FWIW Horner said it was due to Vettel pitting one lap early (?) and they were awaiting the FIA to OK him to exite.

Vettel pulls into the pits with some burning issues. BBC F1 pit-lane reporter Ted Kravitz says: "The engine cover came off and there was some charring. The engine cover is back on now and it has a bigger cooling hole in than the last one, so you can guess that there was something overheating."

If KERS was the problem Button could have been zapped really badly. Something else was up and they aren't going to say obviously, I've not heard that 'rule' from any other driver and I've not seen any other driver just hang out in the car for that long.
That's fair to say. Here in Canada the channel airing qualifying cuts off the feed once the final laps are set, so I did not get to see post-quali press conference. Was just pure speculation on my part.

That's what I thought at first as well, but then after rethinking the things I came to conclusion that stopping ones car at the track in the final minutes of qualifying session while your teammate didn't post his time yet, isn't the smartest thing to do. I feel Petrov just got angry, because he missed great opportunity to fight for third or maybe even second row and forgot about all his surroundings. When he felt, something's wrong with his car, he could easily have parked it out of the track.

We just don't know that, mith, the car seemed to just die on him. I don't Petrov would have been so worried about his time as he was easily into Q3.

Did anyone get a good look of Massa overtaking Perez?
The commentators said that they thought they touched wheels.
He was the only one of that group that improved his time
Any chance that may be investigated?
Massa really had a go at Perez and gave him some stick cool move...broadcasted on RTL by helicopter camera..Perez bravely stood up for two corners but then had to
accept .

Webber stranded in Q1 with a car capable of P1 if everything goes according to plan...what a shame...
Heidfeld ,Schumacher also letting the pressure rise inside them and dropping the ball doing it...very impressive stuff...

Formula 1 teams and Strategy and risk asessment ..We hear so much about the teams
spending so much time on it but again and again they look like complete idiots fools whatever seemingly trying to outsmart themselves for a elusive tenth of a second. This is just dumb.

Rosberg and Schumacher trundling around on prime tyres in Q2 -for what? Webber with almost zero laps today trying to make the cut on primes...Heidfeld waiting till the very end and promptly a red flag is destroying it all...
The game is NOT how to go out at the last possible moment -it´s creating a slot for your ideal lap under the conditions.Any traffic will cost you more than track will improve with 17 cars doing 50 laps in all...it is simple ,isn´t it?
Look for the slot and go out as soon as possible to post your time.

Even the second attempt from Vettel is childish ...the second set of softs has a big value in the race if new..

Yeah, but judging from the onboard images from Petrov's car, he thought he had a gearbox-problem and started fiddling with the clutch settings to see if he could nurse it back to the pits. I doubt anyone was expecting the car to simply die out on him like it did, and not even at low revs.

Barrichello's comment was just stupid though. Of course he wouldn't park it deliberately on the track - what would that achieve for anyone? Even without knowing the bigger picture, it's completely irrational to think that it was intentional.

Barrichello got robbed of his qualy attempt .Stick him a micro under the nose and ask what he thinks..not to be taken serious that one in the heat of the moment...
Petrov switched around with everything on his steering wheel...no wonder the thing died on him...crazy that renault pitwall did not give him precise instructions how to get the damn thing back into the pits..Even telling him don´t touch anything and if it´s not working look for a safe place to stop...but he seemed very very desperate...
