The upgrade consists of exactly what you are describing and is supposed to be worth 2 seconds. So Wirth Research has turned the car upside down, if they can do this in this timeframe succesfully they might be able to show some nice stuff at the end of the season.

AND learn some valuable lessons, because the people working at Wirth research are 'supposed' to have little experience with modern F1 design.

I'd like to see Virgin do well as I like their approach of doing things differently. They've had a tough time in F1 so far, but I see it more as a learning process. They have now sorted the reliability issues and can concertate on performance. It think they will improve significantly during the season, and hopefully already in Turkey they will be a lot closer to Lotus.

Thats it now for the MRV-02A, The next race we should hopefully se the new incarnation for virgin. My guess is it will have improvments in all areas front and rear wings, rear diffuser, new exhaust setup, new nose and also hopefully a revised floor. Fingers crossed [-o< [-o< [-o< or else it will be

Ps does anybbody have any knowledge on what the upgardes could be

So far all I know is that they will have a new floor, a new rear diffuser and different exhaust layout as the current one does not effectively blow the diffuser.

I was thinking about the rumours about the raised nose. Isn't the nose cone a homologated part as it's part of the crash structure? Are they allowed to change that?

If the teams are clever they have an inner nose which is the homolgated crash structure part, and an outer nose that can be changed and does all the aero work. Whether a) Virgin have done this b) there's enough lee-way to shift it all the way up there is a different matter.

Lol!! hear hear. Nick Wirth seems to be especially weak in the area of materials actually. D'Ambrosio's front wing just disintegrated due to vibrating off the kerb on the exit of 13, then front wings falling off etc

Yes especially since teams who has been in F1 much longer have done it also right? McLaren comes to mind with their broken rear wing a few years back....

so Virgin was actually using the Stuttgart Fullsize tunnel to check their last years car ..but this is not a full moving ground thing but a centre belt with 4 additional wheelbelts..and the maximum speed is 250Km/h...

But in all honesty -a lack of downforce per se ..isn´t that a problem you could erase easily by bolting on more severe wings? To be say 20kmh through the speed traps is something i would prefer to being dead slow over a lap..

Never mind last years car. Shurly they could go to Toyotas tunnel and do a full check one day.

I wonder what Wirth thinks about Symonds being brought in to "consult"? That puts Symonds in a great position to throw Wirth under the bus and take the job for himself (when he comes off his suspension).
