If beautiful means taking chequered flags, then that one certainly qualifies!

If beautiful means not only look, but also sound, then this one qualifies:

"Autos lindos son los que ganan", Fangio said.

In english it would be:
"Pretty cars are the ones that win".

I believe cars got ugly from 2000 onwards.I really like almost all of the old ones.

I love Fangio's silver arrow.

The team changed the car, he liked to see the wheels to hit the kerbs.

Watching a couple of these videos makes me think that F1 needs to go back to either V10s or V12s, man they sounded amazing.

The Most Beautiful Car is not an F1.

Proof (I'm reposting here):

Most successful racing car in history (over 1000 wins): Bugatti T-35. It's not beautiful, it's "lindo", as Caito says.
Image

Mercedes GP, 1908 (yes, that's right). First car to win a GP for Mercedes. They say: "hey, this could be a trend". Also very "lindo". There is no word in English for lindo
Image

O.S.C.A. MT4, 1947, first design by a couple of unknown brothers, whose last name was Maserati. They did well after it.... and the design stuck. The name also stuck
Image

Allard J2X, 1948. First attempt, to my knowledge, of installing an American engine in a British chassis. Amazing power to weight was the logical result. A guy called Carroll Shelby saw this car and said: "hey, if I could build something similar... I could call it Cobra"
Image

Lister. Wow. It shows you that how you seat in the car is very important, like the attitude you automatically assume in a Harley bike. If any designer ever made the helmet a part of the car, it was Lister. Also, check the mirrors. The rear fender and how it "melts" with the rest of the car. That nose. Everybody copied what they could. They still do, but they do not realize it
Image

Cooper Climax. Ok, it's an F1 car, but who cares? To me, it's not. It's so different of what was before it...
Image

And now..... drum roll. You know, that thing that doesn't let you to feel comfortable when you see certain designs, that uneasiness, that anxiety, that expectation of something better, it has a name.

It.

Sadly, I don't think the Jordan 191 has been surpassed in beauty since its inception. It may be one of the last real lookers in F1.

To Gray 41...
In the old days, teams received racing numbers based on the numbers they had used the previous year. A team only gained a different set of number if you employed the World Champion from the previous year (or if another set became available due to the closure of a team(Renault 1985)... So if you look back on the championship, Ferrari ended up with 27&28 because they were unsuccessful in every year after 1979. They received 27&28 the year after Alan Jones won the championship for Williams in 1980... Williams had been assigned 27&28 when they became a new entrant in 1978. A similar situation occurred with Tyrrell being 3&4 ever since Jackie Stewart retired as Champion after 1973. It makes for interesting viewing looking at the numbers of cars and tracking teams and driver performances based on this. Like McLaren being 11&12 in 1988 and 27&28 in 1990. Due to this system the number of championship won with certain numbers is quite small. It made for an interesting system I think, but now the history is gone from it, I wouldn't want to change from the current system...

As for Gilles, he won more races driving number 12, he only happened to die driving 27. At the time, nobody imagined that ferrari would be lumped with 27&28 for another 15 years or so...

Sheer power goes to FW22-26. Sound can be beautiful and my god what a screamer, puts a Ferrari V10 to shame!
