Force India VJM04 Mercedes

they just stole that right out of the mclaren factory, it is barely different, only a full year behind in design.

for me the wing is still not good enough, it leaves too much space at the edges.. i hope they find a way to get more down-force from the edges of the wing. ahead of the tires is the best place to get max downforce from the wing, the rest part should create downforce but should mainly manage airflow.

The question is, can you tell by looking at it exactly how much downforce and drag it creates.

The answer is... is your name Adrian Newey?

I thought the VJM03 wing was more developped, actually. As for this, it looks like a McLaren-ish wing, minus the 2nd, curved cascade element.

i'm jus trying to make sense of the wing trends among top teams which have evolved from 2009 onwards. one of the reasons why i feel RBR wings flex is cause it's creating most of the downforce from close to it's edges... other front running teams have pretty even approach on their front wings. i could be wrong on this. but it's plain lever effect in my books.

i've got no idea about what aero is all about... but only trying to make sense of the trends & trying to speculate for the fun of it!! :)

The new front wing and nose look to be pretty much an exact copy of the MP4-25's Malaysia spec FW, including endplates and plow, except the full length cascade wing. But clearly the cascade wing is at a very early stage development and will probably be quite different next time we see it.

I like that they're starting simple and then refining progressively though. Shows good engineering practice. Shame their performance this w-e didn't go along with that though...

The lack of top brains and direction is starting to hurt them now as many suspected it would. Unless something happens to stop the rot the only way is a slow drift to even further off the pace..

Ah the revert to an older design philosophy on the front wing. So, the turkey wing was half baked then?
