iRacing Williams FW-31.

Post

Wow.

I am very impressed with this car so far. Just did a few laps of Laguna Seca as I know the track intimately. The first two laps were a joke, skating on ice. But once I got the tires up to temperature, the grip was amazing.

The sound is a little off to me inside of the car, but sounds great in the external replay views.

I see a lot of potential, as I had not played with the setup at all.

Unfortunately, my current license only allows me to test the car on any track, not run with others.

Oh yes, I was going to but never got around to it for some reason. Maybe I'll give it a go this week.

I actually just got a multi car practice with FW-31, as it is 'week 13' at iracing, and they have special series for all licenses with no penalty on your safety rating or irating.

Been great learning this car, going to take a lot of reading to figure out what to do with the setup.

I´m waiting for the new tire model, right now to be super quick you need to drive the car in a sort of unrealistic manner to get the most out of it.

Kaemmer also said the car will feel much more stable with the NTM.

So many F1 fans here you would think alot of them plays iRacing ;)
It´s the best and isn´t really comparable to any other sim out there.

lol....

Crapfactor doesn´t hold a candle to a laserscanned F1 car developed alongside with Williams themselves with their testdrivers that´s being driven on laserscanned tracks or "carbon copies" if you will.

I´ve played them all and nothing even comes close to iracing.

Maybe your right, maybe not. Personally ive never used iracing but i only suggested rfactor as i use to race in the formula-sim racing series. So pretty much spent most of my time with a few rfactor crazies. I was considering trying iracing out but i wasn't too sure if the experience could justify the price. What do you think?

Sorry if i came off as a fanboy, i´m not really. It´s just that i´ve tried all of them and played them extensively.

To me iRacing is way ahead in almost everything. The quality of the stuff is just mindblowing.

99% of what the driver can change on the FW31 you can change in game etc. (more things will arive later on but they are keeping it at this stage for now, don´t be fooled though you can set your car up just like the Williams team)
It´s just the tire model that is still very good but causes some unrealistic stuff like in all the other sims.

Kaemmer has been laying down 3 years on producing a mathematical tire model which probably hasn´t been done even in F1 and their simulators.

I suggest trying it, if you have no problems paying for quality then it´s a given for sure ;) Mclaren Electronic Systems has even started a partnership now providing the same telemetry as the F1 and NASCAR boys uses.
