BTW, Heikki went off in #9, Lewis in #3, but yeah the circuit as a whole places a lot of stress on that left front. Now, as i remember it Heikki's deflated, they had said something about the wheel moving on top of the rim i think? and LH's seemed more like the rim broke apart, i think they said debris may have gone into it? Of course i don't place too much credibility in those team answers, sometimes they seem more like a polite way of saying 'we have no clue how it happened or how to prevent it'
Wish i had youtube during lunch :)
I coulda swore he went off at Turn 3 as well. I guess my memory isn't as great as I pride it to be

One thing I do remember is from the images I've seen, it certainly looked similar.

I found the pics, thanks to F1 Techncials 2010 Spanish GP Thread :)

Clearly 2 different parts of the track as you mentioned :)

Yeah and #9 is interesting because last year, at least in my mind, that's where other drivers where simply laughing (or maybe crying) upon finding out that the RBs were flat through there.

Does anyone know what ever became of the corner apex speeds? seems those are no longer available as of this year...

The cars, as you know, have less Downforce this year. Evidence is Turkey 2011 turn 8, The mighty RedBull had to lift to take it.

830m DRS-Zone... that's pretty long.

Do you have a track layout with the DRS zones?

I´m guessing it´s the main straight obviously but where does the detection start? Before chicane?

No, I only read, that it will be 830 meters (obviously at the main straight).

for me, DRS on the pit straight almost guarantees the pass, turn 9-10 would have been an interesting DRS spot, as coming in to turn 9 and braking for and exiting turn 10 is tedious.

I still think this is too much of a zone. sure, 14-15 will spread things out; but it's quite easy to follow in the dirty air of 16 methinks (I could be wrong.

I'm not sure what to think at spain – no one ever overtakes into the first corner, so I'm almost willing to believe that just getting past on the straight is actually the intended behaviour. To be honest, I'm surprised they haven't at any point changed the circuit to have a tighter turn 1 and a slightly more open turn 2.

I actually think that T1 is worse for DRS users then T10 because of the layout. Sure the track is longer which makes it easier for the DRS guy but still, T2 is not in his favour at all while T11 works to his advantage.

I have to agree with Byronrhys here.

I don't think you'd be able to get much done into T10 though; there's a massive amount of dirty air to drive through at T9.

I can´t see any difference from T9 to T16 in terms of dirty air though.
T10 is a muh slower corner which in theory should make passing more interesting as it would probably happen during braking.

I just hope pit straight won´t be the sailing past kind of overtakes.

huh? T16 is a flat out corner where you accelerate from the slow speeds through the chicane. T9 is a corner taken at 250km/h-ish :s
