As I doubt if moaning from HRT or FI would impress the FIA enough to change the rules with tree days notice, I agree.donskar wrote:According to Scarbs (whose inputs I respect) the teams most negatively effected will be RBR, McL and Ferrari. So, who opens the thread on who complained? Looks like Mercedes is a hot candidate
Throttle input means the amount the driver is pushing the throttle pedal.nacho wrote:I don't understand what throttle input means, does it mean the amount of petrol? I thought that under braking they aren't igniting the gas with spark plugs but letting it burn in the exhaust or how do they do it?
Hangaku wrote:So EBD is off the cards. This means that the drivers are going to work harder with their feet now (like they used to) if they want a more stable car in corners. Trailing throttle is the order of the day.

If this is the case, it'll separate the men from the boys - a welcome thing in F1.
say what?Ferraripilot wrote:I have ton wonder if Whiting knew this was how RB was able to run so much rake which was in turn making their front wing flex.
Heat -> kinetic energy for the piston, no? Witch would mean more heat in the exhaust when off throttle because it does not move the piston.beelsebob wrote: Why would it increase gas-flow? It's not like the cylinders absorb magic-smoke to generate motion (that's electronics >.>).
Thanks. Might this be the reason for mclaren to request another material for their exhaust other than using it for their weird layout? Or is the excessive heat more of a problem for the piston and the manifold?Martin Keene wrote: Yes, that exhaust gas will be much hotter than normal. That's why they can only run max EBD percentages for Q3 only, they car just cannot take the heat.
Actually, it could make the wing flex more (note, not claiming it does)... If the rake puts the wing closer to the ground, it would cause ground effect to destroy the eddies round the edge, causing it to generate more downforce, causing it to flex more due to the extra force.HampusA wrote:say what?Ferraripilot wrote:I have ton wonder if Whiting knew this was how RB was able to run so much rake which was in turn making their front wing flex.
The wing will flex just as much, it just wont be as close to the ground.
More heat, sure, more gas, no, more pressure, absolutely.sink wrote:Heat -> kinetic energy for the piston, no? No, the RedBull position was that their wing seemed close to the ground because of rake, not because it flexed.Ferraripilot wrote:The Red Bull position was that their wing only flexes so much because they run such a huge amount of rake. Should this new rule cause them to not be able to run as much rake we will see if their wing still flexes the same amount or if their contention was a fleece job sold to shut up the media

They would never admit that it was flexing – that would make it illegal.Ferraripilot wrote:I could have sworn I heard them say it flexes more because the car is raked more therefore asserting more force on the wing possibly giving the perception that it's flexing, and we all know what perception does to people.....
