McLaren MP4-26 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think he means the channel next to the tub, inside the sidepod inlet, it looks wider to me too.

Wow, that's a pretty major change both to the U-pod intake and to the exhaust, looks like McLaren are bringing out the big guns here.

Indeed, alot of repackaging at the rear, it will be interesting to see how things play out over the weekend.

Sorry but I cant see any change of this 'channel' you talk of or Beelsebob mentioning the U intake changing.

Rear changes look very good though!

yeah, maybe I haven't noticed this sidepod revision in Turkey. Is this practice photo?
Spending your life waiting for the messiah to come save the world is like waiting around for the straight piece to come in Tetris. Even if it comes, by that time you've accumulated a mountain of $hit so high that you're %ucked up no matter what you do...

Turkey in the race - still not there:

Looks like this is the thing they tried in turkey practice, but weren't confident of the reliability of.

Whats still not there? Cant see what your photos are showing. You said changes to U area?

If your talking about the mesh inlet for kers. That is only on the left intake so your photos wouldnt show it.

This picture has a black fairing in place and the picture of the new version does not, imho they are the same and the lack of fairing gives an impression of more room.
Became a McLaren fan in the late 70's when I ended up laminating their Kevlar nosecones.

No it's not – follow the matte black lower edge of it in the radiator intake – it used to be dead flat, it's now curved.

There is a complete new manifold and as such the rear is much tighter. That faring was there for a reason before.
