I think Alonso proved today that he is still a young inexperienced driver, but if he can win WCs in his current form keep watching him.

Slightly silly Renault mistake there. Pat should know better.

They can't get it right all of the time, and yes on a different circuit it might have been a different story Principessa. (I was only winding you up) It's easy for us to criticise from our armchairs. Oooh, touring cars on next, I'm not going to get much done today!!

Hehe...it worked Scuderia :P

I'm really happy that Juan Pablo finished before Kimi as well. Good job of the Colombian. And Aussi power with Webber. I'm really pleased that both Williams F1 cars were able to finish. Nice for Mark to score some points after the problems in the last races!

Too bad for the BMW Sauber drivers... JV was driving really well and was in 6th position at a moment....but couldn't hold that place. Too bad :(

MS took his revenge for last year, proving one more time no one can overtake here, and the slower alta chicane didn't change anything. I'd like to have explainations about the yellow flag dispayed just when Fernando was about to pass (not the latter one when DC was slowing for retirement, but just when FA/MS battle started). TV gave no explainations, and live timing didn' too. That was annoying.

About Giancarlo, it's best I refrain to make comments because I think I'll have a hard time to keep myself cool.

And I think also Ide should have his license taken away. Hopfully Albers isn't harmed...

You're not the only one. There were 2 yellow flag situations were we weren't able to see what happened and the commentators on Belgian tv didn't know what happened either. But the YF situation you're talking about...I saw on live timing that Klien abandonned and than only seconds later we saw that DC was very very slow and retired as well!

The crash of Albers, that was pretty crazy! Good thing he wasn't harmed...he flipped over like 4 times! Thank god that they safety of F1 has improved that much!

Now that would be an awesome grand prix to watch....Can't wait 'till tomorrow
Hmmm, seems johny can predict the future. Even though Schumacher won, the pace on the used bridgestone's was pretty poor. Ironic that designers spend hours and hours trying to find that extra tenth from the car, but used tyres can cost you 2 seconds a lap.

P.S Tamara Ecclestone is really hot (anyone watching ITV's coverage will understand!)

Well i have 3 things to say about this race:

1: Well done to ferrari good use of tactics to win. Would not work at a wider track however. Makes the World championship interesting.

2: How sacked is the Lollypop man ???? i think there was a chance button could of jumped alonso and Schume. Car is sorted, driver is sorted, now its the pit crew.

3: How bad was the Director??? i am sure there was alot more action than was shown. It really was badly put together.

2 weeks and we will see if honda and ferrari have really fixed there cars or if they are just quick here
I believe in the chain of command, Its the chain I use to beat you till you do what i want!!!

What was "inexperienced" from Alonso :?:

Few slides in attemt to pass Schuey? With old engine, after going from 5th to 2nd? He was racing and that is what F1 is all about.

Was Fisichella showing that he is "experienced" than?

Alonso was the only one who shined in Imola having in mind technical disadvantage he had in this race and I really don't see anything bad in his driving.

im still puzzled by the decision to bring alonso in.. even though im trilled for shumachers win but i feel that they were gifted the win and the ferrari/bridgestone package still got to work on closing the gap.

Do you call this a track? Fox Latin American anchor "Tano" said it better: "... this canibalized, emasculated road... ". :)

Two seconds a lap can't get you ahead! Meanwhile, the GP2 race saw spectacular overpassess. Maybe you have heard me before, complaining about circuits, so I think I better :-#.

Besides: can anyone explain what was Briatore thinking when gave away the 7 or 8 laps of fuel Alonso had over Schumi? No patience this time from Flavio, I think. I heard something about the tires, but I can't get myself to believe it.

The reason why they made alonso pit was obviously because Massa was bouncing back with Micheal holding Alonso with lap times over 1'27! (not complaining about that though, cause FA did exactly the same last year) When the battle started, Massa was over 20sec behind FA, and when he decided to pit, the gap was just 13 sec! But I admit probably a lap later MS would have pit anyway, so maybe you're right, but that was risky.

the speed at which schumi was holding up alonso 1:27sec per lap was alot slower than the chasin pack of montoya, massa and kimi 1:25 sec per lap.

They didn't want to lose another possible 6-8sec behind schumi and run the risk of being jumped by the closing pack, therefore deciding to bring him in early get a lap of clean air and jump schumi, plus they didn't know how may laps schumi had left. But ferrari reacted as it was close to there pitstop and got schumi in and out of alonso who had a little traffic to navigate.

In hindsight they should have kept him out as ferrari would have come in, in around 1-2 lap anyway and would have made the jump

I think Symonds's decision to pit Alonso was excellent and the best he could do in the circumstances.

He surely knew Massa was coming in (mechanics waiting) which would have meant that Ferrari would not have time to change Massa's tyres for Schumacher's and block Alonso's pit. Schumacher would have to go for another lap and in that time Alonso would try to go faster on his outlap.

It should have worked but he only just missed out.
