Good thinking. Place has good infra structure and nice climate in winter.

Not good as it has no motor sport tradition in the US.

That's not what I call Anti-American,
they already sponsor more sporting events in "The States" than any one other entity by a long shot.
It is just more evidence of an antagonistic attitude, trying to illicit an aggressive, confrontational response.
Bait fully rejected :-"
I wasn't trying to bait anyone. I am still waiting for the anti-American sentiment to be demonstrated so am wanting to tread carefully.

Seriously though, if there really was anti-American (or any other nation) sentiment do you not think that, given the location of 3 of the moderators, we would have not been told off by now?
Not necessarily, and I don't think it is that big of a deal I just think it is. ( See "Albert Camus", and or "Jean Paul Sartre") ;)

Only We notice it...
A Brit doesn't even notice a Brit doing a bit of America or American bashing.
It is so pervasive it is just taken for granted.
No body's hackles go up if someone refers to Americans as stupid..nobody thinks anything of referring to us in derogatory ways. Nothing we do is up to snuff for you guys because it's understood (amongst yourselves) that you're somehow better and smarter than us.
There are constant digs and snide remarks...it's just the norm.
I just left a long time forum where I had much invested, because I could not handle the belittling and dogging of us.
To listen to the talk on the boards we are all inbred dummies. You just don't notice cause it isn't aimed at you.
I had one genius tell me that all anyone needed to know about America and the proof of all derogatory remarks is that Borat movie...A movie I could make in any country in the world
Rant Over
For my money the race in Austin will do well.

So querying the viability of an American scheme is anti-American? That doesn't make any sense to me.

If there's any consolation strad, Scandinavians patronized the Brits, Scots in particular, long before the Mayflower.

Or was there a real chance of someone getting jacked in a face to face conversation?

Ofcourse us brits are rude, stuck up, thin, with bad teeth, bad hygeine, always drunk, swearing and all hate americans :D

It's just a stereotype, there's no need to be so uptight about everything. Let's all just relax and learn to take a joke, don't follow the example of the republicans, who hired a comedian/impersonator and then got upset when he told some jokes.

That isn't what anyone is talking about.
And what we are talking about hasn't anything to do with taking a joke poorly.
Like I said...It goes unnoticed by all but those from the U.S.. It's mostly small digs...that add up.
Yes a lot of it has to do with the stereotypes and misconceptions...of us.
I am probably a little more sensitive than some after just having a falling out over just this thing where I also got this..."Well I don't care if you make fun of us". That's not an answer. If a certain person doesn't have pride, that means I must fore-go mine? I don't think so.
I don't think a person should have to face belittling remarks based on country of origin or religion or any of that crap. F1 is an international community and should be above that.
I mean hell,,,there are probably some good, smart, pretty and not smelly French people.
Now..Can we move on to the topic...F1s return to the U.S. and whether people,,enough people, will travel from all points of the United States, probably to the tune of close to 100,000, with tourists from around the world timing their travels to take in the U.S.G.P. pushing total attendance to well over 100,000.

To get us back on topic...
“One feature that I haven’t seen before is that the entrance to many of the corners is going to be wider than the preceding straight. So if the straight is three cars wide then the entrance to the corner at the braking zone will be five cars wide to encourage overtaking and alternative lines.”
.
Not sure it will work...thoughts?

Sounds like reasonable thinking to me, provided that there's a long enough straight before said corner to allow for the passing driver to get in position, otherwise I'm afrad it will make little difference?

Does that mean Scott Speed will be replacing Webber, or RB will run a third car? :o
