This is my first post here and the reason I signed up is because i have a question for someone to answer it please. Wanted to post it to Scarbs blog but I just found out that he writes here to... amazing
New regulations from silverstone onwards as we all know prohibit the use of exhaust gasses when off throttle for diffuser blowing. As James Allison commented: "when the driver lifts his foot fully off the throttle pedal, then the ECU maps must be set up so that the engine [to all intents and purposes] closes the throttle - previously it was possible to configure the engine maps to leave the throttle open and reduce the engine power by other means,""Furthermore, when the driver lifts fully off the throttle, the ECU maps must be configured to cut off the fuel supply to the engine - this is intended to prevent so called "hot blowing" where the energy of the exhaust gas is increased by combustion." Now i wondered... Im also doing some simracing so I know that its perfectly possible to brake and to not lift the gas paddle completly. Im doing it because of the diff settings sometimes, but today in F1, teams could use that to avoid the forementioned regulation. I don't know the exact rule book on that, but if the regulation explicitly forbids fuel flow and throttle opening only in FULL LIFT OFF that is really simply avoidable. Driver just never lifts off fully and the problem is solved... better said avoided.
I would realy like some clarification on that, probably "The where" I got it wrong
