I don't think so, its just plain incompetence by the FIA.timbo wrote:Well, seems like a plan to stir the FOTA once again otherwise it is the stupidest decision imaginable.

They said that weeks ago and it changes nothing. I'm afraid that just because one team has been willing to gain political favour from other teams by going public with something it doesn't mean that others are not involved. Clearly there are some teams who really want this to affect Red Bull......and HRT are at the other end of the grid. There's a reason why Domenicali hopes there will be a 'second championship' this weekend and I'm sure he and Whitmarsh were discussing what Christmas cards they will exchange.donskar wrote:A reminder for the Ferarri haters from autosport.com today:

The thing is that Renault have proven that they have been "cold blowing" to cool their exhaust valves since forever and have never been burning fuel in their exhausts (Hot Blowing) - Mercedes are the ones that have been burning fuel in the exhausts (Hot Blowing) and this is what the FIA object to, wasting fuel in this way.horse wrote:Oh God, if that's true then as Tony Fernandes says it's a total shambles.
50% cold blow = 10% hot blow.
So 100% hot blow is equivalent to 500% cold blow? Says a lot about the Red Bull if that's the case.
Thing is, why not just stop retarded ignition too, then? If everyone is told to stop doing everything related to diffuser blowing then it's all 2009 right? What's wrong with that?
The elephant in the room here is that all engine manufacturers have been given dispensation by Whiting to make the changes to the engines they wanted to start blowing off-throttle, they were allowed under the guise of reliability improvements and because of homologation then that is the agreed configuration that the engine will run in. For Whiting to change that will go against agreed homologation changes and will probably be subject to all kinds of appeals from many teams. That's why we have the laughable mess that we do now. Anyone who thought that because the ECU was standardised that this could be controlled is well wide of the mark.horse wrote:Thing is, why not just stop retarded ignition too, then?
