Sorry but no. Webber was much faster than Vettel and this maintaining position to prevent a collision is bullshit. Plain bullshit. The only collision that has happened between Red Bull drivers for a position was when Vettel hit Webber in Turkey. They could have easily, easily, told Vettel to let him past. Had Webber not been told to stay behind he would have overtaken him easily anyway. This is total bullshit, there was a massive uproar when Alonso was told to pass Massa and now excuses are being thrown around for this. All of you supporting this should be ashamed. There was no gain to anyone but Vettels ego. Webber had that place and if I were him I'd have passed Vettel and given the team a middle finger as I went past the flagstand. He has an 80 point lead on Webber, there is no excuse for not allowing him to help himself in the WDC standings, nothing would have come of it.

EDIT: I didn't see that Webber had ignored the radio messages. I'm in the US so we didn't get any of the interviews after the race. I don't think he obeyed them but it really looked like he backed off as they came out of Woodcote. I firmly believe he was telling the truth about not obeying the order and I'd have Horner slammed up against a wall right now if I were him.

I think this is getting out of hand really. The FIA stewards are handing out fines and penalties as if they like it, just to have some fun. Perhaps they could ask themselves first whether McLaren really wanted to release Button without a fixed front right wheel, or whether Sauber aimed to stall Kobayashi on the exit of his pitbox.

Doesn't matter if McLaren wanted to release Jenson without a wheel attached, they did. That's all that matters.

Fining Mclaren for the right wheel incident would serve absolutely no point...the result of the incident is punishment enough....

Wow, really, he might like getting his paychecks thou and maybe still wants a drive next year, just maybe. Red Bull just want a number 2 driver to go with Vettel, if he wont play the game then maybe he has to go somewhere else

It's more of a safety thing rather than a sporting thing IMO. What if the wheel bounced off and hit a marshall in the head?

no problem...he did back off when he tried a pass and Vettel shut the door....almost like he lost momentum....

Yes it did, but Webber was clearly faster and the excuses being thrown around are that a collision could have happened. That's what I was referring to. If they could tell Webber to stay behind a clearly slower car they could have avoided a collision by telling him to let him by. I'm not saying one is more right than the other, just that the idea that it was because of avoiding a potential collision is really stretching common sense.
