Renault Wing

Post

How come during testing the Renault wing is shaped different I.E pre-season testing and regular testing.

But during the actual racing events they use normal wings?

Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Probably for the same reason that made them run the narrow nose cone in testing recently, data comparison.

ya i agree. I think in the bottom picture, that rear wing was used in Imola for high downforce, and

ive also noticed that BMW have not changed the shape of their rear wing the entire season, why is that? I think they r the only team not 2 do so

The top wing (Silverstone) is thewing they launched the car with before the season.

But not long after that they refitted the bottom wing and if Irecall, raced with it for the first 4 races.

I can only speculate at why :)

Rumors say that Renault is testing new gearbox in Silverstone and perhaps shape and position of new gearbox is much different from one they use now. Perhaps they didn’t ménage to develop it before the season began so they switched back to more conventional wing and rear end shape until development is finished.

Renault said that the first spec of rear wing ( in first picture) was not safe. ( was broken few times in tests)
