Tombazis is speaking out obvious things.With the modern tools why should you start with a clean sheet of paper? You will have to start anyways within your CAD structure and templates ...and this leads itself to carry over certain things like rule requirements (you may start with a legality box )or you may take over parts and structures you feel are a good starting point.Some assemblies like the engine ..of course you will just import and start making changes only in areas where you see reuirements not met or unacceptable compromises hrting car performance objectives..

I wonder; could it be partly the fry effect? I believe Fry was the designer of the 2005, 2007, 2009 McLarens. Is he very innovative by nature? I always thought Paddy (Lowe) was the more creative thinker.

does it appear to anyone else that the 150 is now running more rake than earlier in the year? to me it now looks closer to the red bull rake than to the 'low rake' mercedes. or am i drinking too much beer while watching? or maybe not enough?

I haven´t seen anything notable in terms of rake and it has never been drastically far from Red Bull this year. RBR still has the most but it´s not by a considerable margin.
Rake is also something they tweak depending on race.

I think that the rear-end remains more or less the same with the only visible change to the profile of the heat resistant material. Also the gills near the rear suspension have been removed. Maybe they thought they didn't need as much cooling.
