Red Bull RB7 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Given Vettels massive lead in points, how possible is it that he ran this last race in 2012 race trim?

any advantage in Formula 1 be it 1 second or 1 tenth is fragile and can be erased easily by circumstances ,loss of focus or simply by being fazed by some opponents making you think thery could challenge .Confidence is a very vulnerable thing.
Horner spoke of a wakeup call ...are they maybe a bit complacent in the team already ?

front face of the tub -what do you think about the bottom of the tub-this looks like a hollow section ,just some thin vertical ribs to be seen -no core and open to the front..For ballast?
the crossection of the tub has really evolved from the original V back back to a more square shape but how is the sliced of lower corners legal ?

Most likely letting the front cooling vent through to the cockpit for the driver.

Under what rule might it not be legal?

Apparently Red Bull missed the 2am curfew by an hour last night. Any idea what they were working on or what the sanction will be for breaking that rule?

Edit: A quick google suggests that they're allowed 4 exceptions per annum. Presumably this was one of them.

At a guess they really think they're behind the other teams in getting a setup that works, and they're trying to figure it out and get the cars ready for FP3.

Don't know what changes they implemented, but it seems to be working well.

Seems that fresh air for driver is directly coming from beneath the nosecone.

But they let a fake opening at the end.

BTW are wires for bending the wings? :o

In a more serious way concerning wires, are the onboard cameras connecting with wires to the car to have electric supplies and to transmit images, or do they are their own antenna and power source?
Just to know if these wires are for sensors only or for cameras too...

Maybe McL found th trick to the RB7 FW and just copied it.

If you lookat the above picture, you can see a slot/gap between the trailing end of the FW pillar and the trailling edge of the FW middle-section surface. Exactly as we notice on the McL FW.

Does anyone have (or know of) other images of the RB7 FW in full action where we could check this. We know about the McL FW trick, maybe this is a clue to the RB7 FW-trick as well, though less visible and better obscured from plain view.

On as sidenote: I'm very much looking forward to tomorrow's race and see how fast Lewis will be looking into vettel's gearbox and putting pressure on him and see how Vettel will be able to withstand that pressure.

I noticed that the RB7 had thicker FW pillars (similar but not nearly as severe as the Ferrari) in Germany than beforehand. They've reverted back to the slimmer ones for Hungary.
Weren't the fins or turning vanes or whatever their correct name is, under the front nose also shaped differently in Germany?
What would be the reason for this?

Thanks Mazdaboy! Wow the right side of the FW is really close to the ground in this pic! Looking at your pics, weren't those fins under the nose curved outwards last race and further back beforehand?

Just out of curiosity; has anyone actually seen the RBR wing flexing recently?

I definitely saw it fluctuating from onboards they were following other cars in the last race.
