Stirling Moss always said he never remembered the accident that effectively ended his career. The brain is a funny thing. We can completely "forget" very traumatic experiences. For example, I remember very little of my first wife . . .

Seriously, it is quite possible that Kubica will come back better then ever (my hope). And equally possible that he'll never be the same. Only time will tell.

It's a human body defense mechanism to block out such trauma. Expert MD witnesses attest to it but for the life of me I cannot recall what it is medically called, but I have litigated serious injury cases where the plaintiff recollects literally nothing about a loss.

Education is that which allows a nation free, independent, reputable life, and function as a high society; or it condemns it to captivity and poverty.

This guy definitely aint driving in 2012.

The thumb alone is like a milestone, and people expect him to be popping down 5 gears in half a second with his middle fingers.

Give him till 2013.
For Sure!!

If Kubica can't come back, it's very likely as Lopez and Boullier can't stop saying he is ready for F1...

That is what I said when I found out the extent of his injuries.
Although I think he may still drive in F1. I think it is a fair bet to say he will never be, or become the driver he was or was going to be.
Very sad. :(

Could this maybe be because of the brain not having time to store the information?
The brain takes every inputs we get then decide what folder to put these things in and judge the importance of the stuff aswell.

Could it be that in the event of a heavy crash or something that gets you seriously injured, the brain has to shift all it´s focus on a particular matter (often shutting "us" down) and not storing the information, thus causing this hole in the memory?

I know that there´s a theory regarding Deja Vu where instead of storing the information in the short term memory, it stores it in the long term memory which causes this "haven´t i been here before?"
The truth will come out...

Let me see what you make of this.
Hmm.. a German publication trying to talk down the chances of Kubica's comeback.. nothing to do with pushing for Heidfeld in 2012?

The only people who will truely know are Kubica's doctors. And, for good or for bad, they're silent at this stage.

Kubica's Dr's are in a far better position than anyone else outside of RK, but I don't think they know for sure. They can't know definitively where the healing will end. Not yet.

In the race primer over the last weekend, seeing the development by Kubica, it is a little hard to take if he would be back at the start of 2012, I think that it would still require a lot of rehabilitation and even with such a recovery, it would be long before he develops his reflexes back.

It takes a lot less time for professional athletes to get back to the top form, get those reflexes and confidence back, as you say. As I learned from my example, I am an amateur freestyle snowboarder i ride about 100 days a year which is alot, i had common knee injury, torn ligaments, it took me 6 months before i was able to ride again and two full seasons (2 years of rehabilitation, exercices and 200 days of riding )before i got back to my riding level before the injury, but I know so many examples of pro riders that are back 100% after 4 to 6 months after having their knees crashed in pieces. That is something that is hard for me to understand and accept! It makes me mad!
None of us knows exactly about the extent of injuries robert sustained and how his rehabilitation is progressing so it's unwise to make any judgments on the matter. What we can be sure of is that he is getting the best medical care possible, due to this and his fittnes level he is healing few times faster than a normal person would and also he is working 10 times as hard as any person would under 24/7 supervision of worlds best specialists. His odds are high.
He said on an official lotus renault website tha he will be back for 2012 and I'm sure that when he is back in the car, you will not see him limping through the field, he will be 100% on the pace. Peace out

What i do know using the same logic as your experience comparad to other boarders, is that Perez is of similar level of fitness to Kubica and perez met in a baby accident compared to Kubica.
Perez had no ripped off limbs or shattered bones. Perez in fact didn't even have a scratch compared to Robert.
Now if Perez accident is enough to render him unfit to that level required to race an F1 car competitve, keeping in mind he had no disfigurations like Robert. How in the world can a guy that went through hell in a coconut shell, be even close to driving an F1 car if another equally strong and fit driver couldn't muster the strenght after a little boo boo?

Perez even had big comfy cushions to rest his little sauber on, while cacooned in the safety of an F1 shell.

Kubica got a guard railed shoved up is but!! Raw iron to iron contact.
If Kubica comes back in 2012 he would be super man indeed!!!
For Sure!!
