Scuderia Toro Rosso to Become Team UAE???

Post

http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/09/ ... ownership/

Has Mr Saward got a good story here?

We know that STR has been on the market for arround 3 years now, but it was earlier this year it was taken off the market, however now seen investment from UAE companies.

Will Team UAE come to the F1 grid next year???

Also a good sign for Jamie Alguersauri but bad for Buemi, who i think could go to Williams now if Red Bull can front the €5m for him to take Rubens seat, as he is a experienced driver and such. We know that Marko has been trying to get the STR team gone from Red Bulls portfolio as he wants more money for Red Bull and it is cheaper for Red Bull to seat a driver in another team for between €5m and €10m for even half a season than to have STR.

However i have doubts over their UAE based factory as for the European season it will be really dumb to have a factory in the UAE, a nice shiny new factory somewhere in Europe would be much better.

Discuss.

This is a little saddening as I love the Toro Rosso brand, especially since their strong showing at spa, however since rbr can no longer support the team technologically, it makes little sense for the ownership to remain under RB. Let just hope the team doesn't lose its flair

Joe Saward? Really? Wasn't he the guy that thought Liuzzi was an excellent driver that should've gotten a better drive than Force India?

I think it still makes sense for RB to keep the team as a testbed for talented young drivers.
And I'm not convinced there's no technology transfer going on at all. There's bound to be more talk between Toro Rosso and RB than between Ferrari and McLaren. And we all know about spygate. Maybe there are some "friendly" moles in place, who knows?

Sharing of information isn't prohibited, right? Or is it? I mean... maybe Newey and Ascanelli have lunch every 2 weeks where Newey accidentally talks about new developments? Having said that the two car concepts are quite different now. I guess they're not sharing knowledge, but they're sharing resources like wind tunnels, CFD computers etc

They are still based in Faenza, I'd love to see the Minardi name back!

As much as I think name revivals are complete rubbish (Lotus), There are legitimate links back to Minardi in that they are Italian and still operating out of the same town with some ex Minardi employees.

Forza Minardi!

Other than that; they are, for what it's worth, still the same entity.

As did Kubica. He suggested Tonio to Renault as his replacement after winter crash.
RB's next superstar has hard time trying to bit him in HRT.

Funny that the company is 'International Petroleum Investment Company' which has a majority owned share of 'Aabar Investments' which itself owns 30% of Mercedes GP.

With Cepsa joining as a very important sponsor how exactly will it work out? Title sponsor as soon as the 2011 seasons ends due to legal reasons?

Scuderia Toro Rosso Cepsa? :wtf:

Title Sponsor? really? I don't think there's any regulations on title sponsors coming/going midseason. ING left Renault in the middle of 2010. Or was that 2009?

2009, when Alonso was still there.

Anyways, it'll be interesting to see what happens with this team. I hope they remain an Italian outfit as that's what makes them special (to me).

With the mid-season testing ban in place there is little benefit (other than brand) from having a factory next to a circuit. It might help if one of the winter testing sessions was in Abu Dhabi, otherwise its a logistical nightmare for the EU races and testing sessions.
