Mercedes GP W02

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The W02 was way off the pace in FP1. Let's hope the car picks up something in FP2.

Heavier fuel loads.

I hope so. I saw MS about a second ahead of Rosberg, so I figured the two were split by different fuel loads, or tires.

Ted Kravitz has also reported Mercedes have made some changes to their diffuser for this race.
Maybe they are just finding the right setups on a heavier fuel load as this is where Mercedes have most of their issues.

Yeah, Schumacher is looking racey. He was pushing the braking zone pretty deep. Hope this spills over to his qualifying performance tomorrow.

Re: Mercedes GP W02

funny thing is the times(sector times on F1.com dont make sense)
Vettel = 27.4 : 28.4 : 28.1 = 83.9 seconds = 1min 23.9'ish seconds
Hamilt = 27.2 : 28.0 : 28.2 = 83.4 seconds = 1min 23.4'ish seconds
Schumi = 27.0 : 28.8 : 28.5 = 84.3 seconds = 1min 24.3'ish seconds

but the f1.com times show Ham as being just slower that Seb, and Schu a further 0.3 off, when in fact (According to the sector times) he is more like 0.9 off HAM and 0.4 off SEB.

Sorry for the off topic post. but just picked up on that

Back on topic. that Merc is mighty in a straight line. I just hope they can carry that into Qualy as Dren says

the individual sector times are not from their fastest OVERALL lap
it is their Individual best sector times
and if you add those you will get the best possible times

Yes, but then again, adding them might still provide false data; as they could have set those individual best sector times with different setups.

Either way it is nice to see the Mercedes in the mix with the Ferraris for pole. I don't know how the race pace looks. Anyone check that out? MS may be able to jump Button, Massa and maybe Fernando in qualy.

Have they gone back to their previous front wing?????

Is this because they have gone for an ultra low downforce spec & thus to balanace the car they have opted for the previous front wing???Or is there any other reason??

I notice that Nico was running the same vent on top of the nose in free practice 2 today that Michael had on his car in Spa.
