Renault's choice of Nick back in winter seemed to be obvious - lots of experience, about the same speed at BMW times, some extra knowledge of new Pirellis.
But now it's about the time to take directions for 2012 - regarding both new car design and drivers lineup.
Nick didn't fulfill Renault's expectations as RK's replacement, there are no really first class drivers on the market, and Kubica - who knows ?
Speed is there, no doubts, but they have to evaluate Senna in racing conditions, no other choices. If he fails, they have at least few races to evaluate Grosjean.

No comments about how they did this - IMO marcush right in that it's all about money, and for F1 team money is more important then elegance.

Well, there is even a saying in my country: if nobody knows what's all this about, it's about money :-)

Now officially Heidfeld and Renault have put an end to the drama and have confirmed the split without taking to the court.
Heidfeld seems to have signed a deal somewhere else already and suddenly boullier and lopez mellow up their standing towards Heidfelds contribution.

Unluckily Heidfeld will not be able to help them to score more points this season. If things went on like they did in the last 12 races Renault will end the season with 88points instead of 113.
As MercedesGP already has 98 and will score strongly in the next race 4th place now is all but impossible but what about Force India? judging by the last three races the gap between these will narrow dramtically and ´FI will end up with 72 points.
So in a word Lopez and Boullier have done their math and trust in Petrov to score 5 or 6 points till the end of the year and FI not gaining more momentum mind you TR also on the way up will hotly contest the lower points count finishing positons as well.

Renault would have needed a wonder to gain 4th place in the standings -a far cry from what they have announced in the winter.

Not for the current Formula 1 championship .If he does I´m ready to quit this forum ...or alternatively eat a-admittedly- small piece of the Michael Schumacher firesuit prepared for x but obviously obsolete now.
What are the plans now? Eating the fire suit or bye bye?

I have more expectations of Senna, just like i had for Maldonado and Petrov when they got their seats. Senna will do well enough.
It's not just publicity. If anything the simulator is giving them reasons to use Senna, and if not they have Grosjean.

Have faith in the new drivers.

I bet many who posted negatively about Senna being a pay driver are now seeing that there is some worth in his character and driving abilities.

Thoroughly impressed with his calm qualifying with 8s on the clock and his recovery race. I think he can actually come 7th or fifth in the next race.

we got to look beyond the first impression, as sometimes these drivers don't really get the right car or team to work with.

Petrov, Senna, Maldonado, all seen as a bunch of good for nothings paying to play.

Currently it's guys like Kobayashi and Diresta that are not living up to the hype.
For Sure!!
