Red Bull RB7 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Regarding Red Bull's floor looking "basic",

I prefer the word clean.

Newey probably designed to generate more downforce from the upper body elements and the rear diffusor, whereas, other teams are trying to generate downforce from the floor and the diffusor to catch Red Bull.

Red Bull is apparently much more successful with its approach. The RB7's front end grip is unmatched on the grid and that's probably 40-50% of the car's performance. McLaren got the rear-end to work but could not fully exploit it because the front-end would struggle with understeer.

It's not a double diffuser, it's been discussed for many pages in this thread.

It's not a double diffuser, and it doesn't use the same concept of a double diffuser. they only have a "single diffuser." So why are you angry?

That new wing looks a lot like the RB5 wing:

They've had an "r" cascade on the wing since Monza if that's what you mean?

yea, my mistake I was referring to the monza wing with the mclaren style cascade. They didn't run the wing shown in that pic at singapore for qualy though, right?

Here is an explanation, not really a double diffuser:

RBR have a normal sized front but their extra length comes from the rear, works for them i guess.

Yea that is what I want to know. How much would a longer sized rear & different maybe slightly lower sidepods will give?

How much is for the SWB & how much because the car is a DUD,oops with Renault's performance is very slow speed tracks we have got a new definiton of a odg of a car from a major team.
