Regarding Red Bull's floor looking "basic",
I prefer the word clean.
Newey probably designed to generate more downforce from the upper body elements and the rear diffusor, whereas, other teams are trying to generate downforce from the floor and the diffusor to catch Red Bull.
Red Bull is apparently much more successful with its approach. The RB7's front end grip is unmatched on the grid and that's probably 40-50% of the car's performance. McLaren got the rear-end to work but could not fully exploit it because the front-end would struggle with understeer.
