It does actually seem as though Williams want the Raikkonen thing to happen.

On paper it doesn't look too bad after all, a chassis by Mike Coughlan mated with a Renault Engine and an in-house gearbox, Raikkonen driving, how bad can they go?

But who's going to pay for everything, Hugo Chavez?

Who is the driver who is signed on at Renault? Is Ruski there for next year? I thought he might get dropped.

Dren, yeah Petrov signed for 2 years at the beginning of 2011. Though Senna's strong performance & Kubica's possible return (plus rumours of Grosjean) are placing that contract in doubt by the media.

I'd be seriously surprised to see Senna booted out at Renault. He brings in big money, just like Petrov... If Kubica's ready, I'd expect to see a Kubica Senna line up.

So. Brawn has issued a "challenge" that was a thinly veiled "you can win in a fast car, but helping us improve would REALLY move your stock" and Domenicali has begun talking about Vettel in a Ferrari again.

So, the BBC are claiming that autosport are claiming that Sutil has been dropped by FI for 2012 and Paul Di Resta/Nico Hulkenburg confirmed instead. Unfortunately, the BBC aren't citing a link, so I can't confirm anything. It's a bit odd, I thought FI weren't saying anything until december.

The story started by @F1Enigma on Twitter; aka Dmitris Papadopoulos; who is a fantastic source for paddock news. He called the Costa and Willis moves to Merc before they even left their teams; and he called the Sam Michael McLaren move a week before it happened.

It was also printed out on Autosport.

They all say that behind the scenes things have been confirmed; just not announced yet. Apparently Sutil is now a strong contender for Williams; a close 2nd choice to Kimi.

Here is a Graph based on the 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Position in the Constructors Championship.

Image

RenaultGP has clearly secured the 5th Spot.

Force India too appear comfy in 6th.

Sauber appear to be the ones that need to take caution of they're 7th spot 'cause Toro Rosso are just 3 Points behind them. And the way STR performed in Korea, they seem strong enough to take the lead on a track (India) that is fairly new to everyone.

Toro Rosso were aiming to end the season in 9th at the start of season, behind WilliamsF1. But it seems they just might end up 7th.

Fascinating chart. The rise of FI and fall of Sauber is striking. Who'd have expected that back in Silverstone?

Not sure this is the right thread, but I can't think of another suitable one! Maybe a new thread called "WCC - Sauber v FI v TR"?? I'll ping the mods to get these posts moved.

Liuzzi career has been a constant spiral (downwards).

I just don't understand why teams sign him up to begin with. I don't know who's backing him financially - but it appears that it just might have come to an end.

Hispania Racing just may have an all new lineup for 2012 'cause they aren't gonna keep Narain Karthikeyan. Daniel Ricciardo just may get Sébastien Buemi spot in the 2nd STR. As for Liuzzi, its high time he accepted that he's just a waste of space in F1 (even if he's driving the worst of the worst).

Sutil to Williams next year??? I cant see him anywhere else appart from Hispania or Virgin next year if this is so.

And if so, it looks like Force India are looking at Sauber with Kimui and Chico as a driving pairing thats young but hot to take the team forward with Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg who ar both as quick as each other and dont pick fights with other teams personell in airports.

The thing about Adrian Sutil is that he's consistant. He doesn't have the flair that some of the young guns may have like Di Resta and/or Hulkenberg.

He can be a good support driver to a team like Ferrari next to Alonso. Atleast that way, we could see the end of Massa.

It would be a waste of a career if he were to move to Hispania.

If he were to be picked up by Virgin, than it'll be to replace Jérôme d'Ambrosio & join fellow German Timo Glock.

That being said, if Vitaly Petrov loses his drive with Renault, he might end up with Virgin since it is the only Russian team.
