Hence why I thought Rosberg out braked himself on purpose out of the pits - so he could DRS Jensonbeelsebob wrote:For refrence – I was wrong – the DRS was pretty perfect here. I dont think so, he just locked up his tyres.raymondu999 wrote:Hence why I thought Rosberg out braked himself on purpose out of the pits - so he could DRS Jensonbeelsebob wrote:For refrence – I was wrong – the DRS was pretty perfect here. Whitmarsh is quoted on Autosport elaborating on this saying that for reasons unknown Lewis's car suddenly lost 10 points of downforce (a huge amount, roughly equivalent to losing an endplate!) on the first lap. So he was effectively running the entire race with a 'damaged' front wing.raymondu999 wrote:why what was the case? The car wasn't performing? Lewis had massive understeer on the primes
Holy crap, he did incredibly well to keep in front of webber then! I thought he'd driven a good race before hearing that!myurr wrote:Whitmarsh is quoted on Autosport elaborating on this saying that for reasons unknown Lewis's car suddenly lost 10 points of downforce (a huge amount, roughly equivalent to losing an endplate!) on the first lap. Whoo! I can be a race engineer now.ringo wrote:Redbull is just free styling, they really have nothing to lose.
I would experiment with different strategies for next year too if i were them.
I wouldn't read too much into their choice, as it really doesn't look advantageous.
When the track is rubbered in, both tyres are almost the same after a few laps on them.
The best strategy is always to go with the fastest tyres and then leave the last stint for the aproximate lap limit of the prime tyre.
If the prime can do 20 laps, you got 35 laps on options to play with and split how you chose.
Faster tyre is always the best to get on when the car has some weight in it.
I agree, Jaime Alguersuari had a good race. I also thought Rosberg is showing his skill in recent races with some great opening laps and then we saw him taking opportunities in this race, even against Button in the much faster McLaren.Trailer23 wrote:Its nice to talk 'bout the Big Guns of F1, but ...
A fan of the car. I have it as my wallpaper. I thought you were a diehard RB fan nowadays? Make your mind up!

Or why not appreciate all the cars?
Whaaaaaaaa ?!? Can that even happen I told in another tread that I don't like marbles. Ok the tyre should degrade, but the marbling is waaay over the top, it creates security issues and sometimes puts the off-racing line out of comission so it can't be used, hampering racing. If really a tyre piece got stuck in the fw (and if that's what caused the df loss), tough, tough luck Lewis.myurr wrote:Okay the causes for the downforce losses are coming out in the latest interviews. On Lewis's car tyre rubber had lodged itself in the slot gap in the front wing, filling it and causing the losses in downforce. I would guess that this was causing that section of the wing to stall causing all Lewis's understeer problems in the high speed corners.
Jensen's front wing was damaged by a stone also causing a loss of downforce, albeit not to the same extent.
